I decided to go to lunch with my sister in law and our 4 kids ages 5,2,2 and 10 months. We got seated at 11:50am at 12:05 the girls started getting antsy. At 12:15 we are about to leave because no one has greeted us or taken a drink order. I had to go into the bathroom to get water for my daughters bottle. A couple got seated next to us and within a minute they had a server greet them and take a drink order. There was a woman cleaning the booth behind us. I turned around and asked her nicely if she knew who our server was, she replied with a name and said she would be right with us. 5 minutes pass and still nothing. I see a young man working and ask to speak with a manager he said no problem and went to find them. Within minutes the same woman who was cleaning the booth came up and said she will take our order. I told her I was waiting to speak with the manager. she said that she was the manager. I began to explain to her why I was upset but got the feeling she didn't really care because all she said was sorry and continued to take our order. We waited another 20 minutes and still no food. and we felt that was a little long for 1 kids mac n cheese a kids hamburger a grilled cheese and a buffalo wrap. Finally the food came except for my 2 year olds hamburger( delivered by a different server than the one who took our order) now if anyone knows kids this is a meltdown waiting to explode. so 3 minutes later the hamburger comes the server said they had to wait for the fires to be done. So I look at the server and say they are piping hot? she said yes they are extremely hot. Why why would they put luke warm fires on an adult meal and put the piping hot fries on a kids plate. I had to pick up the fries off my plate and have my sister in law scrape the hot fries onto my plate so I could put the luke warm fries in front of the child. that was the last time we saw anyone. We ate our lunch my sister in law hated her spinach pie grilled cheese and I ran out of soda which is a problem when you are eating a BUFFALO sandwich. NO ONE CAME BY TO SEE HOW WE WERE DOING!!!!!!! we were left in the corner and forgotten about. We are done eating and waiting and waiting for our check my mouth is on fire because I had no drink. Finally we were able to catch someones attention for the check. She brought it over. I told her it is not her fault but this was the WORST service we have ever had. Once again she didn't seem to concerned. I go to take my credit card out to pay and she says it is cash only didn't they tell you that when you ordered. I said NO!!!! they didn't. I said now I really need to see a manage because we don't have cash. the woman left and came back and said she will try to run the cards. the card machine worked and we were able to pay. We never saw the manager again, we don't even know who our server was. THIS WAS SUPOSE TO BE A SPECIAL TREAT FOR OUR KIDS, GOING OUT TO LUNCH AND IT WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE, AND NOT ONE PERSON WHO WORKED THERE...
Read moreI am sorry to have to write these negative impressions of the Newport Creamery in North Kingstown, RI. I have been going there off and on for several years, and have noticed some recurring problems. Last night just confirmed them. I sat at the counter, and saw how incoming guests were ignored as soon as they entered. They would wait patiently by the sign, as instructed, but nothing would happen for a long time. Waitresses would come and go, sometimes passing right by them, and just acted as though they were not there. This treatment was the same even if they had very young children or old folks. One mother with children even said, "Can we just sit down?" It is as though management doesn't train them to be polite or responsive. In my experience, these scenes were not unusual. Other restaurants welcome their customers, so why can't Newport Creamery? I that other reviewers said the same thing as well, so it must be systemic. Then I got my chocolate frappe, and it was awful. It tasted weak and sour, not at all chocolatey. The waitress had some other person redo it, but did not offer any apology. I get the feeling that some waitresses know how to behave, but others don't, and management doesn't work with the others. Sad to see these...
Read moreThe food was mediocre at best and our waitress was awful. Took our drink order, took her over 5 minutes to come back with that. Took our food order and another waitress brought our food out. My fish sandwich was so overcooked and my husband’s wings weren’t hot at all. We didn’t see our waitress at all, she never came back to see if we needed anything. My grandkids finished eating and were ready to order ice cream that came with their kids meal. After waiting over 15 minutes my husband said something to another waitress and he was told that our waitress would be right over. After waiting another 15 minutes, she finally came over and took our ice cream orders. It was nothing complicated at all and after waiting for 20 minutes, my husband got another waiter to just give us our check so we can leave.
