If breakfast is really the most important meal of the day, Casa El Desayuno just proved it can also be the most nostalgic. Toni and I slipped in just before closing time for lunch, hoping to grab a quick bite — and ended up finding a place we’ll probably keep in our weekend rotation.
My Chilaquiles Tricolor showed up looking like a patriotic little masterpiece, with green, white, and red sauces draped over crisp tortillas and sunny-side-up eggs like it was auditioning for the cover of Best Mexican Comfort Food. Crunchy, creamy, and with just the right kick — the kind of plate that feels like it was cooked by someone who cared what your grandma thinks. Toni’s Pancake Combo was no slouch either — golden, fluffy pancakes stacked high, with bacon that cracked and popped when you bit into it, eggs scrambled just right, and hash browns that pulled off the rare trick of being crispy and soft in the same forkful.
And then there was the cafe de olla. Sweet, spiced, and served in one of those clay mugs that makes your usual paper cup feel inadequate. It was like getting a hug from a grandmother you didn’t even know you missed.
Service was genuinely kind — our server never once made us feel like we were holding them up, even though we cut it close to closing. They even shared some insight about other locations across town, which earned a smile and a mental note to check those out too.
The dining room was clean and bright, with staff clearing tables quickly and keeping things in order. The vibe was casual and welcoming, clearly designed for families of every kind to feel comfortable.
We left full, happy, and reminded that sometimes, the best meals are the ones that feel like they came out of two different childhood kitchens and somehow made it work perfectly on one plate.
Would we go back? Absolutely. Next time, we’re bringing the kids… but I’m still not...
Read moreI woke early on Saturday and, since it wasn't 9:00 yet, headed on over to my go-to breakfast joint. If it's after nine, see, you'll be waiting, popular as this place is. After searching my navigation for CAFE El Desayuno for 10 minutes, I become convinced that I was the latest victim of the Mandela Effect. So remember, it's CASA El Desayuno. Only took me 5 times going here to get that straight.
I was seated immediately and Alejandra arrived within seconds. After she brought my Diet Coke, I decided to forego the Breakfast Burrito rut I've been in for life (for some inexplicable reason, breakfast tacos are not a thing in Vegas) and step out a bit. I asked her what was good.
"I recommend the Tender Tips, but are you okay with spice?"
I am okay with spice like Eskimos are okay with ice. Why would someone walk into a restaurant named CASA EL DESAYUNO and not be okay with spice? I have read that this happens. Weird.
Anyway, Alejandra arrived within minutes with the dish. Tender Tips, which seems like it may have gotten its name from one of Nevada's other main attractions, is robust, well presented, excellently seasoned, and an over all delicious dish. Spicy? Sure. Very nicely so. It's likely what I'm getting here from now on. I did order a side of tortillas, because tortillas.
So, another good job, lads and lasses! Alejandra was professional, friendly, and fast....
Read moreCasa el Desayuno is one breakfast restaurant that I will continually come back to over and over and over again. Being raised in a spanish household you always had great food, great conversations and great atmosphere at your family‘s house. This breakfast spot gives you that same feeling of being in your family‘s kitchen!! When you walk into the door, you are greeted with a smile and an eagerly ready staff member to seat you to your table. Once I sat down, I was greeted with a smile by a lovely waitress by the name of Fatima. She goes above and beyond a regular server in my opinion not to mention all the staff. Once you’ve ordered your food within 10 minutes your order is hot and ready at your table. No complaining here you’re gonna get good quality delicious freshly made breakfast. Where else can you go but Casa el Desayuno for a great cup of Café de Olla. I can’t say enough about this restaurant. I will be back many times over driving from California just for this good taste. Look for Beatrice she is the manager of this establishment. She’s just as amazing and always greets you with the same amazing smile and personality. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for fusion pancakes and Carne Asada breakfast. Thank You again Casa...
