I recently moved to this area from out west. I am a professional manga artist, (or Mangaka in Japanese) and I love nothing more than good tea, sushi and sake. These are the things that make the stars shine brighter and put the mind in a state of momentary bliss. Being new to the area, I’ve searched high and low for that certain set of variety which enriches life and adds the special touch to the ikigai that transcends from taste, experience and sensory harmony in a way as rare as a hot spring on a snowy mountain top. After finding nothing that meets the ideal cocktail of the “spices of life”, hope was all but an illusion for this Little Rock in Arkansas. However! Not all was lost. On accident I walked down the short but delightful stretch of Main Street near my hidden studio in Argenta, North Little Rock, and my walk became a dance. I had discovered this gem called Kamikaito. We all have an ideal vision of “the place”, an oasis which caters to experience and existence; giving reason and rhyme to our tasteful desires in ways that are more rare than can be written, like a lost soul in a desert I’d found the perfect spot. Kamikaito. Before my life of making comics and manga, I was a sushi chef, moving from coasts to coasts, trying, learning and tasting every option available for fun and food. (Ideals run deeper than just those two words) And now my search is over. If you want something special, something that requires no definition for perfect, go here and embrace the flavors and service that only come along when feng shui happens to smile upon you. There’s nothing else like Kamikaito. Please don’t take my word for it. Go there, bring friends, forget the insanity of the world, and enjoy! You won’t find it anywhere else! Share a hot sake and clang your glasses together, shout “Kanpai!” and embrace this beautiful little Sakura called Kamikaito. We’re lucky to have it! - Your friendly neighborhood mangaka. -...
Read moreThe BEST sushi in the area and it's located across the Arkansas River from Little Rock in "Dogtown" otherwise known as North Little Rock. Its in the Norrh Little Rock downtown area known as the Argenta District. Its within walking distance from the Arkansas River, Dickey Stevens Park, and the Verizon (Altell) Arena! There is plenty of parking nearby Kami for free and there is also some paid parking as you get closer to the river.
The service has always been great and we have yet to experience a wait for the many times we have eaten there. The bar is decent sized and they have a good variety of beers, wine, and saki style drinks. It is definitely a full bar.
The Hawaiian Ahi Poki Tartar is our go to meal. It's my type of salad but it's actually a soy base style poki meal. It's a generous sized dish with large cut ahi tuni cubes mixed in a soy base and served with lots of goodies like cucumber, advocado, strawberries, mango, spinach, rice, edamame, etc.
The menu has many different offerings on the sushi side and the hibachi to suit any group. I haven't tried the hibachi myself but it.looks the same as any other hibachi place. The soups look great but I haven't tried any soup dishes either. Please note the hibachi is cooked and brought to your table instead of being cooked in front of you
It's a good place to host a large party thanks to the openness of the dining area. The ambiance is set by the grand piano that magically plays by itself. The interior is a clean modern style with elegant colored light fitures throughout.
Give them a try and you'll be...
Read moreSome of the best sushi you will ever eat! I can’t say enough good things about Kiyen’s Kamikaito in North Little Rock! I stopped in recently for dinner and was absolutely blown away. First off, no wait—seriously, not having to wait for a table on a busy night was such a relief. The vibe inside is perfect, too. It’s stylish but still cozy, making it a great place whether you’re out with friends or having a relaxed dinner for two.
Now, the sushi—wow! Everything was so fresh and flavorful, I could tell they put a lot of care into sourcing quality ingredients. I tried a few different rolls, and each one was delicious in its own way. The Kamikaito Roll was hands down my favorite, with this amazing mix of fresh fish and just the right amount of sauce to bring it all together. If you like a bit of heat, the Spicy Crunch Roll is spot-on—just enough spice to wake up your taste buds without being overpowering.
What really impressed me, though, was how every detail was just right. The rice was perfectly seasoned, and even the miso soup tasted like it was made with care. And let me tell you, the tempura was crispy without feeling heavy—a perfect start to the meal.
The staff was super friendly and attentive, checking in to make sure everything was great without being intrusive. All in all, Kiyen’s Kamikaito has quickly become one of my favorite spots in town. If you’re in the area and craving sushi, do yourself a favor and check this place out. You won’t be...
