North Bar is unlike any restaurant you will visit. They offer gourmet fare and an array of beers and fantastical simple cocktails. Truly a lot of thought went into making this place and it is very special. They offer crazy fun burgers to low(er) carb wraps and salads to the best Brussel Sprouts you’ve ever had (period!) life is before these sprouts and then after these sprouts!
They are in a class of one- there are zero places like North Bar in the area- other than franchises along the 67/167 service road. NB is ran by the owner, Kyle, and his wife- both of whom are hard workers and very kind people. They also actually curate specials and offer Vegan and vegetarian / plant based fare. Sammy is the go to server and should be recognized as one of the best servers in Central Arkansas because he listens and knows the menu (and often helps the kitchen because he’s a straight up good dude.)
North Bar was also featured on Diners, Dives, and Drive Ins, because they warrant the exposure and deliver those wonderful burgers and fare with consistent quality.
If you’re in town for business- stop by and avoid the big chains. If you have a dog and live in the neighborhood- stop by. If you want to bring your kids or family to a special place- stop by. If you just want a local beer - stop by! NB will excite you and exceed your expectations. May take a minute, but this isn’t fast food!
They do close in the afternoon from 2-5 to give the staff a break, so it’s lunch or dinner service before 9 pm.
I love the Frontier burger, sweet potato waffle fries, Asian Chicken wrap, and the Coconut Shrimp, but everything item of their offering is well thought out and flavorful. You should not be disappointed and should be...
Read moreThe lunch my dining companion and I had at North Bar was a mixed bag. On the plus side, all the waiters serving tables could not have been nicer and more solicitous.
But on the minus side, we waited half an hour for our order, a chicken club sandwich with French fries and a Chinese chicken salad, to arrive. All around us were other tables waiting for food. When the table next to us was served, I heard the customer ask the waiter, "What's going on back in the kitchen? Why did this take so long?" He told her he didn't know, but there had been a large table to be served previously.
The food: also a mixed bag. The grilled chicken on my Chinese chicken salad and in my dining companion's chicken club was very generous and well-cooked, tender and juicy. But the dressing served with my salad was unbelievably sweet, and when I tasted a bite of the chicken club, I found that it, too, was dressed with an extremely sweet mustard (and perhaps honey) dressing. Both dressings could easily have the sweetness toned down. Everybody's tastes differ, but once I know a restaurant features sugary sweet salad dressings and sandwich spreads, I tend to look elsewhere as I make my...
Read moreUpdate: I've made it a point to come here every time I'm in this part of town. Everything I've tried has been absolutely delicious and you can't choose wrong.
Wonderful experience. The house beer (Park Hill blackberry ale) left something to be desired but Lost Forty Forest Queen and Trash Panda are on tap. The food...wow. I had "The Trifecta"- a burger with grilled chicken, provolone and bacon. The fires were the image of perfection, soft and crispy in perfect balance with full flavor.
My wife had the Peanut Butter and Jelly burger. We had apprehensions, but aside from being Nessy, it was an amazing burger combining flavors you never expected into an excellent burger.
My mother had the angry bird which stands as one of the best chicken sandwiches I've had.
We also ordered sweet potato fries ( I hate sweet potatoes and they were good) and a crazy queso burger that was just as messy as the PB&J burger but only almost as tasty.
This is clearly a place where taste reigns supreme.
After writing this initially, the server we had caime up and started recommending some of their vegetarian options. By the sound of it, even a meat lover could devour one of...
