I really do not know how it gets better than Dumpling King. I am almost 58 years old and DK has the best food of it's kind I EVER had. This is the real Chinese food 99% of people in US don't know aboutI was once one them. I went 3 times to a "fancy" place near Brickell that was literally 3x the price. I knew that was of the price was to pay for the rent. The dips were great, but not EXCELLENT like DK. I guess if some guy want to impress some girl in his Maserati and take her in the Brickell area, so be it. But, if she can't be impressed by the quality and deliciousness of DK, then the class and quality they think they have, ain't!!!😂 If you want the best, I mean THE BEST, there truly is no place else to go. Quantity, quality, freshness, price and that home made, real deal meal as if you are eating in China itself! Start out with the Beef Dip if you like beef. Awesome. The Seafood had plenty of shrimp, fish and everybody uses the crab/fish these days due to cost, still delicious. I want to try Braised Beef Dip next visit and the General Tsao's Chicken or however you spell it. Spice level #1 if you can handle a tiny bit of heat, #2 is what I like, my son gets #3 and I like it too but medium hot is as high as I can go. #'s 4 and 5 are for those who like it even hotter. Finally, the service is wonderful. The usually younger staff are as courteous as you can ask for with sincere smiles and serve you respect that just makes you feel good. I have found in my life, from my home town of Boston where some of the best food in the country is, that it has most often been the "hole in the wall", mom and pop restaurants that blow other bigger, "fancier" and more expensive places away. I had a reputation with friends starting many moons ago for knowing a ton of little spots in MASS and FL where the real "down home" cooking was/is at!. 9 out of 10 times Maserati's were not parked in front, but if the person was as smart as they were rich, they would have been eating at those places! DK is small, basic and I am not paying for ambiance and fresh flowers on a table when I go here. Just get me the food! If I lived near DK, I and my family would literally eat there 5 out of 7 days a week. The health of my family would get even better from all of the fresh, delicious veggies, I'd feed my family for a bit more that what it costs me to cook for a family of 4 every week (Yeah, dad cooks the dinners 5 of 7 days) but again, weed all be even healthier, for me especially since I'd rid Diabetes and Heart Disease, feel better and lose the weight! My verdict: Dumpling King Forever!!! PS- I read a few negative reviews and came back to edit my review. I am not saying that one person who mentioned a hair in the food cannot happen. Be real, life happens. But, the person bashed DK unrealistically for like 5 things. I think a few reviews are by competition to try to hurt DK or someone with a grudge someone there. Another person wanted to be greeted better, evidently as if he was walking into a restaurant in Aventura. Wimp, Please! Another mentioned the area. I'm not crazy about North Miami Beach anymore, but economics is the i I came back to Dade County 30 years ago, but DK is in a tiny strip mall that caters to a demographically changing area compared to back in the day. And??? Don't go if you don't like the area, period. Duh! Old TV commercial said, "Try it, you'll like it". Trust me, go and you...
Read moreBeen going to this spot since the pandemic lockdown. Their food is always good and were super nice but I guess since they opened back up to the public their attitudes changed. My boyfriend and I decided to dine in when asked, they took 3-5 minutes to greet us when we walked in and waited an extra 3 minutes to be seated. After we were served our food, we weren't offered any regular utensils only the chinese utensil's (the soup spoon) were available on our table but I ordered a large bowl of their spicy rice, I don't have a problem with using their utensils but because I ordered rice, and my boyfriend isn't used to using them, I decided to ask another waitress since our waitress was busy, I asked her if they had any regular spoons so we could eat our rice with, the waitress automatically had a snappy attitude and pointed at the soup spoon and said, "thats not good enough for you to eat the rice with?" her comment took me back a bit and I was confused for a second because her statement made it seem that, that was the only type of utensils they had. I shrugged off her bad attitude and told her it was fine, later on I saw another waitress give another customer a regular plastic spoon to another customer WITH NO PROBLEM. Like what was the problem about giving me a regular utensil? Her nasty attitude was uncalled for. After eating, they barely checked on us to see if we wanted our food to go and to see if everything was okay, I'd say we sat there for 15 minutes waiting for them to clear our table. This is the 2nd time I've had an issue with their attitude, the first time was they were being stingy with their hot oil. When I asked for an extra container for my large family order, I asked another waiter and they gave me a container with no hesitation. I just don't get what the problem is. Like I said before, their food is always great but their vibes are just off, I don't think I'll ever dine in there ever again, I'll just take my food to go, because their stank attitude is so...
Read moreWhat a great piece of jade lost in a landscape of colorless pebbles! I only rate the food, based on what we took out. In fact, we ordered food for six people but I only tried mine! I had the Shanghai Soup Dumplings and their Hot and Sour Soup. Both were outstanding! The the soup was full of bits of pork, mushrooms, woodear, bamboo shoots and egg, in a broth that was surprisingly hot. I almost always add some chili oil or flakes to the "hot and spicy" dishes at most places--not at this place! Balancing the heat were flavors of soy sauce and vinegar. The dumplings were light as a feather and squirted in your mouth, like that weird Freshen-Up gum--only savory broth instead of spearmint goo. The dumplings were thin pancakes enclosing a delicious ground pork mixture flavored with white pepper, ginger and sesame. I didn't have a chance to try the fried rice, the Shrimp Udon and other dishes I paid for, but now I'm determined to go there alone and eat my way across this menu. By the way--the menu is skimpy in English, lacks descriptions of the dishes, is half-printed in Mandarin and most of the people who were actually eating inside the place were Chinese! Great signs for authentic cuisine.
Apologies for the stains on the menus. Couldn't be helped.
Ate lunch at the restaurant with my daughters Feb, 3, 2024. We ordered the Scallion Pancakes to begin, followed by Steamed Shanghai Dumplings, some fried Dumplings and the spicy rice. Everything tasted fresh and well prepared. The spicy rice had some some jalapeno rings to kick it up a notch. The Steamed Dumplings squirt a dose of delicious savory broth with your first bite. The fried Dumplings had a bit of crunchy crispy outside with a delectable filling. The girls had boba tea that disappeared in a heartbeat--it was that good. We ate like Chinese royalty for around $50.00--an outstanding value. This place is...
