The host was lovely, super welcoming and happy. She wished us a happy anniversary and was pleasant. Once we got to the table, the server assistant half greeted us and started taking plates off the table. They set the tables with nice China and then remove it and bring different plates once you are seated. That was weird.
Ambiance is nice and clean in lobby and dining room. Bathrooms are foul. Furnishings were attempted high end, to match the prices.
The server came and asked if we wanted still or sparkling water. No names provided, no welcome. The service was just stale. It did not create an experience or match the cost of the meal. We never were told any names but based on our receipt her name is Belen.
They do give you warm, fresh bread. Which was awesome because looking back, it was one of the better dishes. They give you olive oil and bland hummus.
We ordered a bottle of wine. Wine presentation was incorrectly done.
We ordered appetizers. Oysters and saganaki. Both were alright. This was the better part of the meal.
We ate our apps, had them cleared off the table, and then our waitress came back to get out food order. Speed of service was annoyingly slow by the end of the dinner.
We ordered grouper, yellowfin tuna, and a side order of orzo. The grouper was good. Came with a very small side of green beans. Not worth $40 for the portion. Yellowfin tuna was odd. Tasted off. Was grey. I ate 1/4 of it. Came with lemon potatoes. They were alright but plating was odd and messy and portion was small.
The orzo was not edible because of the bland tomato sauce and pungent raw green onions that covered them. (Actually every single item came over garnished with green onions and white onions).
The waitress cleared our table with a full portion of orzo, most of the tuna, and some of the grouper all going back. Never did they say do you want a box or how was it? Poor service again. She asked if we want dessert or coffee. We said no.
Then the waitress really never came back. We each had a small amount of wine left but we’re ready to leave. She came back to buss our wine glasses and I had to ask for the check. She said sure, and brought it 24 minutes later.
There was only a few tables in here during our reservation so it was bothersome how slow the service was. Will not return. Would’ve asked her to take off the orzo and tuna off the check because they were not eaten but we didn’t have a chance to...
Read morewithout a doubt, the food is tasty and well prepared. the wait staff did a good job. I like that they had a large selection of fish that although seasonal is nice to be able to try new fish. I'm glad I could find wild-caught branzino and not the farmed variety.
BUT as to whether this place is worth it or not really is still a big question to me. in a city filled with so many places that seem glamorous and charge for ambiance just as much as for the food , this place fits right in but doesnt stand out and it felt cheap inside.
why? first, i went to my booth and the seat was dirty.(for reference: this was 430pm on a saturday, the place was still empty) i asked the hostess to please have someone clean the food crumbs off the cushion.
second: i obviously chose one of the most popular booths because the cushion was worn to hell! you can feel the wooden framing of the booth since theres barely any cushion left.
third:the tablecloth had a stain ring of what im guessing was someone else's wine.
and finally: i happened to drop my napkin, picked it up and saw how filthy the place is. the floor next to my table had hair, crumbs, dirt...just hadnt been swept in god knows how long. I dont even want to know what the kitchen is like if this is how they treat the dining room. And then, the un-classy broom stick laying on the track on the sliding-glass door to the deck. it gave me some pretty ghetto vibes and reminded me I am in miami after all, where we pay up the nose and it's all a facade. you're likely to impress anyone wanting to feel like they're being fancy though. ghetto-fabulous maybe?
at least the food and staff were good. I decided not to bring all these items (besides my dirty seat) to the staff's attention because they arent to blame...and I doubt I'll go...
Read moreSee update below! Sad that this glowing review only lasted a mere 8 hours before food poisoning set in.
Fabulous, elegant and beautiful. Our waiter Christian was top notch as was his bus boy! Everything we had was top notch! Greek salad was outstanding with just feta, incredibly juicy tomatoes and green peppers -not what I’m used to in NJ (everything mixed with chopped romaine lettuce) The crab cake was the best we’ve ever had... pure crab meat! My husband had the Greek equivalent of paella which he said was amazing. I had the whole red snapper which they took the bones out... head, etc. and it was cooked to perfection! The potatoes were buttery and melted in my mouth. Lychee martini was heavenly. For dessert we had the apple tart for two... birthday candle for my husband and several staff singing when they brought it to the table. Can’t wait to come back next month for my birthday!!
Update... Never went on my birthday. My husband and I got violently ill about 8 hours after leaving the restaurant ...suffice it to say that we would have been more than prepared for a colonoscopy that’s how bad our diarrhea was. Our common food was Greek salad ( could have been cross contamination with raw food ) and the crab cake ( bad fish). Doubt it was the dessert although who knows?
I just ruined never updated this. Totaling bummed. Won’t ever go...
