I would frequent the restaurant for many years. Always good service and food. That’s when Eli and Eti owned it. Today I returned. The soup was non existent. I stayed to give the new owner business. I started conversation with the The Mashgiach . I told him that the restaurant was very respected in the community. That rabbi Jury Lang. And rabbi Lipsker frequent it. He said I could not compare rabbi Lang as he is not orthodox. That his conversions are meaningless. I said poeple park there car at bal harbour synagogue as well and go to services. Ans not all are orthodox memebers. To which the Mashgiach called me “apicorus” an ignorant. I think the Mashgiach should focus on the kitchen supervising duties. I called the ORB to complain. That the Mashgiach insulting customers ans not focused on the kashrut of the kitchen. The rabbi that answered the phone said his Mashgiach has every right to sit in the dining room area ans not be in kitchen. And that he was considering not renovating there kosher contract as the owners are not Jewish. I asked to speak to the owner. To have his number and complain. The Mashgiach told the cook not to give me the number. And that I should call the mayors office and get the number. There was another customer that the Mashgiach sat at his table to win his heart over and complain that I was...
Read moreWhile on vacation, my family and I decided to go to Subres for an Israeli style meal. After a LONG wait, I am disappointed to say that the experience was mixed. The first issue was that it took too long to get our menus. As we sat there, with only one other group in the restaurant, we wondered what was taking so long. Eventually we received our menus, but we started to expect the long wait times ahead. After ordering, we waited another additional hour until our food arrived, which really soured our experience. Even though some of our meals arrived around the one hour mark, others had to wait even longer for theirs, and some of the food was missing certain things. I can say that the food was very good, but not something I would wait an hour and a half for. Overall, I feel that Subres has the ability to be an outstanding restaurant, but lacks the service to push it over the edge. If you are interested in coming, it might be worthwhile to come in small groups, and at hours where the restaurant is...
Read moreMy family and I ate at the Subres Grill today (12/19/18) and we enjoyed it completely. The owner was an extremely gracious and pleasant man and patiently guided us through the menu. We started with soup. The soup of the day was chicken ginger and it was a light, tasty and a very healthy selection. We also ordered the Yemenite soup (so good we ordered two extra to bring home) and the red lentil. I ate the red lentil with green schrug which added a little kick. Excellent. We also ordered the humus plate and a salad with apple and cranberry which was equally good. Entrees were the Vietnamese bahn mi sandwhich, chicken fajitas rice bowl and schwarma plate. Each one was really good. Dessert was the warm chocolate cake with parve vanilla ice cream. Terrific! We are in town the next two weeks so we plan on at least a couple more trips there...
