Car hop service prompt & friendly. Same as my first visit one month ago. You push an intercom button; there's a note saying a CarHop will come and they do appear quickly. Tonight ordered: Cowboy burger, waffle fries & peach/cream/soda, water-no ice, extra catsup for fry dipping. Brought soda, no ice (fine 'cuz was cold) and requested payment. I forgot not liking that payment system previously. I have to tip not knowing the service quality or what is to come with food. Both my visits ended up needing more employee support. Second visit I tried getting by without having to summon another employee. Both times the second employee was a different person than the one taking and delivering the first order. First time I tipped both, giving the 2nd, a larger percent. My theory was that I would possibly have to tip based upon prior visit; since I had no history in the beginning of tipping. That didn't feel so nice because, the first person received only 20-25% and I paid the second more based upon the service from the first. First contact: tiny order-a port soda. But answered many questions because for a newbie. Created interest for more Second contact, same visit, entree. Larger cost bigger tip. Not a good feeling for me because first hop was the biggest contributor to my positive experience of the two. Tonight I received order seeing a container of fry sauce. Great! Not able to see the scant fill until lifting lid. I tried to do without more, ended up pressing the 'call button' and speaking in order to save double trip to me. No one ever came. By now fries are not hot. I called out my window unsuccessfully to six or seven employees passing the front of my car. After exaggerated wave, eye-contact made. Asked the gentleman to ask my hop to bring two more fries sauces. He said he would take care of them. Did so, fast and they were both fuller than the first one I received. Now I was in another tipping circumstance. Do I tip additional dollar (or few) for his appreciated help? Do I carry cash to give many tips without additonal 2 trips required for credit card transactions? Tonights food: Meat patty- plenty. Burger sitting on top of a singular onion ring and jalepeno, besides the ones inside. Nice presentation. They need to get better quality buns! See photo. Top bun flaking off was extra messy INSIDE the car. Won't do that again. They do have outdoor tables. When I saw carhops clearing tables I thought I was doing them a service because cars condense their garbage on the return tray. Tables were strewn. Next time, if there is one, I'll leave my a/c, sit at outdoor table, bring note describing how to split a cash tip between multiple hops. I must always be hitting shift changes? I don't usually drink much soda. Was such the cause of a "physical need developing as I exited", waiting in the parking lot for traffic light to change. If I had known the exponential urgency, on my short drive home, I'd have asked if they had a public restroom before leaving. Could the cream in my soda be the culprit? Never before and I hope never again. With new ownership and SARS-2, the car positions are frequently busy. A potentially awesome flashback in time. Exciting. (Forgetting the actual logistics.) *The, sort of hidden ice cream shop located kiddy corner from here has got everything right. Too bad Kirt's is not as on-pointe. The peeling bun issue is an EZ resolve but the fast food credit card tipping/paying via car hop(s) creates undesirable impacts. Having a person arrive to your car when the speaker is there, but not working, causes empathy for how much unnecessary running the Hops have to perform. Hmm... Who likes ordering from an old time intercom system? Much nicer for customers the way Kurt's is running the awesome human connection, ifemployee physical exertions not accounted. A conundrum, tipping is already bizarre here. Would I rather pay before the order arrives or have my food sit (get cold) while paying? Upon further evaluation, can Kurt's method be improved so that hot food takes priority?

I’ve dropped my star rating for this restaurant because my recent visit left a bad taste in my mouth. Pun intended. The food by far was not what it has been in the past. When we first arrived we were able to sit and was promptly visited by the waitress on duty. But from there it went south. After having her come back and give us a few minutes to figure out what we wanted when she came back it was hard for her to hear us giving our orders because the kitchen staff was being so loud it was literally hurting my ears. Then once she took the order I eventually had to go to the desk to find out what was going on with my order because it had been almost 45 minutes by that point. Finally 55 minutes after we ordered our food with a 10yr old mind you we finally received our orders. We all ordered two footlong coneys and a check sandwich and a side of chili cheese fries. My chili cheese fries came last and was the hottest thing on the table. I didn’t see a single person inside that restaurant that looked old enough to legally buy a beer much less cigarettes. The owners really should clean house because out of the 7-8 people working in that kitchen and it took an hour to get some chili dogs. Really! Not happy and it’s debatable if I will return again. It’ll be a while for sure.

It's been a long time since we ate fast food. Surrounded by SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) we have been a little bit hesitant to eat out. A few days ago my husband and myself were so beat after a long day of being out and about, neither one of us wanted to cook. He suggested Kirt's Drive-In. He caught me a little off guard and after making sure that's what he wanted to do, we decided to give it a try. This fast food business resembles those from the 1950's minus the roller skate. The young lady was very attentive but not rushing. She let us have a few moments in our vehicle before she walked over and asked us what we would like. Not being able to read all the different drinks they have because of the way we were parked, she took the time to read each of their specialty drinks and what they were like. It didn't take an awful long time to receive our food and it was just as we asked and it was just short of being hot, so they definitely got it to us as soon as it prepared. That in itself was impressive. We both liked our food and the service was great. Along with her alertness, she was very pleasant, kind and patient. We were both full when we left, so I would say it was a success. Very good food.

This place has been around since before I was born. It's got a lot of good memories there. Our favorites were always the shakes, foot longs, and the fish and chips. Yet now it seems to be under new ownership and things are changing. The first thing you'll note is a car hop takes your order now instead of over the PA system.

Since the take over I've gotten a few freezes and a few foot longs and was rather disappointed. The freeze was fine just as they always have been, but the foot longs were inedible. Before the take over our standard order was a foot long with cheese. It was a simple long hot dog split length wise, grilled then placed on a slightly toasted bun with a relish/fry sauce mixture and a slice of the same melty cheese you'd find in their grilled cheese. To start, the young guy who took our order looked confused when I said a foot long with cheese. He told me that they don't usually do that but could make it happen for me. (I appreciated the sentiment to try and give me what I wanted) Yet the foot long I received was far from the warm toasty goodness I've had for years. It was cut in the middle splitting the entire dog/bun in half. Then doused in an ungodly amount of half melted shredded cheese. All swimming in a paper basket.

As I attempted to eat the dog I just couldn't get through it. The cheese was a weird rubbery texture and totally overpowered anything else. I believe there was still some sauce/relish on the dog as I remembered it, but it was almost non existent. The amount that was on there seemed more like a shadow or a dream of the delicious sauce that should have been there. Even more weird was that with the long hot dog not being split lengthwise and grilled as such, left the inside of the dog tasting greasy and undercooked.

This has been the first food I've had from them since the change and I can say I'm extremely disappointed. Sure this review sounds nit picky, especially over a hot dog that wasn't even that mind blowing in the past. But after you've spent your entire life going to a place getting certain things, you get a taste for them. A craving for a comfort food that's been around since you were a kid. Every now and then you just get that craving and expect to be satisfied like you have been for years. That was my expectation and I was sorely disappointed. Especially for the price, nearly $40 for a few dogs, some scones, and a couple shakes.

So if you've stayed with me this far through the review I hope you come away with the knowledge that this place is changing, maybe for the better, but so far it doesn't look good. I will try and give them the benefit of the doubt and try a few more food items, but if those don't satisfy that craving like I mentioned before; I'd be sad to say my family and I won't be returning.

I can appreciate the new owners are doing their own thing and are trying to keep the place profitable, but if they're going to be serving the "same" items as the Kirts of the past, please keep them the same. If not, change the branding and change the menu so at least some of us who have grown up with this place don't come in having such high expectations for something that's been around for decades.

I wish this place the best, they're a landmark in our town. I just hope they don't scare away too many of the locals by these...
