Cocky's Bagels

As a gluten free person this will be a review with respect to the establishment’s ability to communicate and fulfill their promise. I don’t even attempt to order food from places that don’t offer a gluten free option. I heard about this place through a Cleveland gluten free Instagram account (that seems to have deleted their posts about Cockys now that I attempt to double check) and ultimately, I followed through with my order because I was assured that there were procedures in place to serve a safe gluten free meal and even the person taking my order claimed to be gluten free! So my confidence was high.

Luckily I got to watch my food being prepared. First off I watched the food preparer touch a gluten bun, like smoosh a sandwich down, in the middle of preparing my gluten free order. What’s the point of changing gloves and making promises to customers if you’re going to do that?

Then as if that wasn’t dangerous enough, I watched the preparer use the same tub of guacamole and utensil to make my gluten free avocado toast as she did every other gluten order. What’s the point of claiming something is gluten free when it’s cross contaminated with every other gluten order?

I was so excited to maybe have a single dining option while out in the Flats with my friends. I beg, please make your gluten free options actually gluten free. Or, do not bother to offer a gluten free option if the staff does everything forsake every additional “precaution” taken and then instills false confidence about its safety. This is so dangerous.
