The only reason I didn't rate this 5 stars is because of the manager that was in at the time. I've come to the area twice for work in 4 years. And in both trips, I've come here. The food is usually really good. My waiter was on point and very attentive. I came in for lunch and had the rib eye. It was supposed to be "juicy" but was the opposite. The outside of my steak was crispy and I ordered it medium. Great taste throughout most of the steak, but some spots had no flavor at all. Back to the manager. When I walked in, instead of greeting me, "he asked how could I help you?"...and seemed bothered to get up or ask. I've never been to a restaurant and have been asked that question. If you walk into a restaurant without asking for anything like, can I use your restroom, a safe assumption is that you'll be eating there. And you welcome them in. When I left, I completely missed seeing the plastic utensils available for take out so I asked for utensils to go. The manager again seemed bothered, took a deep breath and just pointed. He didn't get up or say anything. I looked over, felt like an idiot because I missed them, but at the same time I was irritated. Once I grabbed them he says, "there's plenty there." He never says thank you for coming, or if I needed anything else or if I had enjoyed the food or even hoped that I enjoyed the food. Worst manager at any restaurant I've ever visited including McDonald's! (If considered a restaurant). On on a high note for the place, I grabbed food (to go) on a separate day. The mac n cheese was probably the best I've had, and the fried rice with chicken and pork was really good. I think if this place can change a thing or two or person, it would be the manager the day I visited. Really good place for food (maybe not dining in)...
Read moreThis was my favorite place to go up until last night. I always order the same thing but was unaware that there was the normal meal and then a combo. I have always ordered by saying “cashew chicken” and it has come with the soup and egg roll. I’ve never asked for the combo so I thought this was the normal meal. The second time I went to Pagoda I asked about the small red pieces in my rice and found out it is a Japanese style of barbecue pork. I asked for them to leave that out and of course they did. Last night when I went, I asked for the cashew chicken like always and asked for no barbecue pork or onions. I was repeatedly told that this does not come with the meal. I told them about my past experience and spoke to two servers and the owner. They were all very rude and disrespectful. Instead of repeatedly telling me I was wrong they could have informed me about the difference between the cashew chicken meal and the combo considering how well they claim to know their menu. Even after receiving my food, I told them that this was not what I normally order and the server responded with “I don’t know what you’re talking about” and never came back to the table. My meal also had onions on it even though I asked for none. I was not able to inform a server because no one came back by until it was time to box up our food. Having serving experience in a restaurant... this experience has really upset me with how things were dealt with. I’m not sure if we’ll be...
Read moreThis is not my first time at Pagoda. I travel up here once a year from the lower states and one of the biggest staples for our trips was Pagoda. At the beginning of our trip we stopped for dine in and the food was ridiculously expensive. Without alcohol out bill was $100 without tip. The Crab Rangoons have increased to $25 as much as I pay for an entire meal. They were pretty fishy and we could only eat a few. The second time we did carry out just because our first experience wasn't all the best and I would say it completely ruined Pagoda for me. I got the salt and pepper shrimp with the shell off because the chrisp them perfect! Which I can admit and The Zangos. After showing up my order wasn't ready which I figured it was Friday night. But when arriving I was missing part of the order. I waited for that and when I arrived home the shrimp were shell on... 🥺 Which doe seem like much but now my hands smell like fish and they no chrispy. After an additional $90 for carry out tonight I definitely will reconsider ever coming back. Definitely a lot better food in Alaska. I love the people and environment but the food and customer service is definitely going down hill. I sat on this review before posting it and honestly think I got food poisoning from only eating a few. DEFINITELY don't recommend they didn't even clean out the poop sacks from the shrimp. Very Very Disappointed and definitely will NEVER be...
