Country Cafe — Restaurant in North Pole

I’ll start with the positive. My husband and I love to get breakfast from her often if we can. The chicken fried steak is delicious and they have some of the best burgers we’ve come across in town. Downside. Getting a to go order is not an easy or pleasant experience. There’s a 75% chance they won’t answer the phone on the weekend. When they do it’s usually a waitress and those ladies work hard and are always running around when we go there. I’ve seen it every time. What gets me is the bigger gentlemen who works there. I think he’s an owner. He sits behind the counter and only rings out tickets. He doesn’t seat anyone, doesn’t answer the phone, doesn’t clean up tables, along with a lack of control of the front door and organizing who’s paying, who’s picking up, and who’s waiting to be seated. So when you go in for your pick up order, the front door is usually chaotic and your left to figure out who’s waiting to pay, be seated or picking up. Earlier this summer we were there in person for lunch and a customer had a medical emergency and an ambulance was called. This gentleman who works there was apparently off shift and sitting along a back wall by the kitchen and I didn’t see him once get up to check on this situation or customer. It’s just sad to see the waitresses who work there bust their butt running that place only to have lazy management sit idly by shuffling tickets behind a counter and not doing...

Was very excited to come back here while back in town. Unfortunately the quality has gone down while the prices went up. We always ordered the croissant French toast previously and was looking forward to it. Despite the new $15.99 price, we ordered them again knowing they would be good. This was not French toast. We each received three uncooked croissants covered in sauce and a couple berries. They were no dipped in batter, it looked like maybe once side was dipped briefly. The sauce was the same and good, same with the berries we only received a little bit of. We were not checked on our asked how our meal was and our drinks were not refilled. We were asked if we wanted boxes for my mostly untouched meal. Our check was brought without a word and we had to ask for lids for the rest of our unrefilled drinks. Disappointed and...

Walked in during lunch hour hoping to get a hot meal from a local restaurant. There was a sign that said "Please wait to be seated, we are understaffed so please be patient." No problem, I worked in restaurants for years, and after 2.5 years of built-in pandemic excuses I am already inherently patient by necessity. The man sitting behind the counter was talking to someone I assumed to be another customer. Not ringing her up, just talking to her. They both stopped talking, looked up at me, then without acknowledging me in any way went back to their detailed conversation about someone's bladder cancer treatment. After standing there for about 5 minutes with no acknowledgement of my existence, I turned and walked out. Pathetic. Do better, or get in another...
