FUGU HIBACHI & SUSHI — Restaurant in North Port

There was a grand opening on this new addition to the shopping center and I'm glad they came to town.

The food portions are plenty, prices are reasonable, and the employees are friendly. The food was flavorable, and everyone in our 3 person party was satisfied without any complaints. My husband order the steak & chicken teriyaki combo with fried rice. Mom ordered the chicken and shrimp rice bowl. I ordered the avocado salad, vegetable rice bowl, and Snow Maintain Roll. (what?!?! This girl like a variety when I try out a new restaurant, especially when it comes to Japanese food. Plus I get lunch for the next day if it is worthy of bringing home.)

I have to say that the salad was much bigger than I expected it to be. Up in the northeast, the salads were much smaller than this one, so I took most of that home with me today. The chef special roll, Snow Maintain, was amazing. It was the perfect balance of crunch with soft and flavor. the vegetable rice bowl was a huge portion and that was taken home, just missing a few fork-fulls of food.

My only suggestion would be to expand the Chef Special Rolls, to just add a few more options, as 7 is not enough for this sushi addict to choose from. Don't get me wrong! I love regular sushi rolls but I absolutely adore the Chef Specials. I don't mind paying anywhere from 3-5 dollars more for a roll with more flavor and pizzazz.

Judging by how many people already wrote reviews for this location and how many people I watched take menus from outside and then moments later walk in to place an order, I am hopeful to say that I hope FUGU stays around and keeps up this wonderfully surprising and satisfying new addition to our ever...

Food is yummy as always. Wish the menu was more informative, and accurate. They have a website, but when you go to the website, it asks if you want to buy the domain, which means they didn't pay to renew it. They recently updated the menu, added a few items, BUT they removed the entire side dish section, so no current prices on those items??? No prices anywhere ever on how much extra sauces are??? The receipt is not itemized so it's sort of a guessing game on prices unless you remember to ask.

Please make all the prices easy to find, and current. This includes side dishes and sauces. And please have website working if you are going to have it on the menu.

Also if you order online through any online services, the prices are increased on SOME menu items, not all. Some are only increased very little an other items, it's quiet alarming the price increase to order through a 3rd party food website like GrubHub. And the price increases are still there even if you go pick it up yourself. And every 3rd party site, has completely different prices, so those aren't even comparable. Makes no sense.

They have a Facebook for both of their locations but nothing has been posted since 2017???

Have been ordering here for a long time. Prior to COVID you used to be able to get great sushi at great price that I would go out of my way to order from. During COVID the price understandably shot up so it was great sushi at an ok price. Not sure what's been happening recently but the quality of food has really gone down hill. I've had more than a few orders where the fish was noticably off, and speaking generally the rolls just don't taste remotely as good as they used to. Again don't know what's changed but it's been noticed by multiple friends that dined independently of me. Now it's mediocre sushi and just not worth coming back. To whomever the owner is please fix the quality, I used to love...
