China Chef — Restaurant in North Port

The food here is average for chinese. It taste good and you would probably eat from here again if you tried it. I have it about once a week.

The biggest issue (and the reason they don't get 4 stars) is when you call in your order it doesn't matter what time they tell you it's never ready. After a while I got used to this and just started coming later then they say. If they say 15 I come in 25, and if they say 20 I come in 30, etc. It doesn't matter how long you wait, they don't start making it until you show up and tell them your phone number. Others may have a different experience but I have this happen about 80% of the time I order here. It could be they want their food to be as fresh as possible and just put it together at the last moment for that sake, but I prefer food that's been in a container for 5-10 mins already then waiting 5-10 mins when I get there for it.

The service is friendly though and I will continue to order from here, but if another place opened nearby with equal food quality that got their order out on time I'd switch to them. If they improve their timing I'll change my review.

Everything Chinese food should be...

Delicious - We scarf up everything we order, and the leftovers don't last long around here.

Consistent - No weird, fatty little remnant pieces of chicken or pork in the fried rice dish, nor anything else we've ordered. No more spitting food into a napkin because it's all fat and no meat. Ugh. Consistent flavors and high-quality, yummy goodness every time. Hot and hassle-free food takes 20 minutes from the time you hang up the phone.

Price - Good value for the amount of food you get. Take out boxes are always filled to overflowing. You know what they say, "You get what you pay for."

Downside - NO delivery. So far, China Chef doesn't deliver, nor is it affiliated with one of the restaurant delivery services. No good place to eat inside the restaurant, maybe a half dozen, screaming-yellow plastic benches in a space bright enough to do surgery. Seems they are strictly a pick up joint.

I ordered delivery from this location through Uber. The restaurant forgot to place a main entree in the to go bag. I called the restaurant and the absolutely refused to fix their mistake by delivering the missing item. It was not Ubers fault. The woman on the phone was completely arrogant and refused to work with me. I am disabled and my Ma is bedridden at the time. This arrogant and rude woman wanted me to drive 25 minutes to pick up the item. I told her this was not possible. She verified that it was on the order as well. After her absolute refusal of any cooperation; she told me to call Uber and hung up on me. So they have $20 in food they have kept for free. Terrible customer service and this is why Asians like herself gives other Asian business owners bad names. No I am not racist. My two oldest children are half Korean. I will never ever order from this business again. Uber should take this business off of its’ page. I spent over $100 to that business...
