Eat Korean BBQ & Shabu-Shabu — Restaurant in North Providence

I had a really weird and awkward experience here that I wanted to share. I don’t normally post reviews but my friends and I had a very uncomfortable experience here.

We went here for dinner after a sporting event and were wearing matching jerseys we had just gotten for a local team and that was fine and all but one of the girls working there started up a conversation with us about it. It’s fine to be curious but we were all together all day and wanted to just enjoy a nice dinner with each other.

It got weird when the waitress SAT DOWN at our table not once but twice. She wouldn’t leave us alone and continued to ask us personal questions about where we went to school, where we live, where we’re from, etc. We all got the feeling she either was being overly friendly because she wanted a better tip or she was hitting on someone. Granted I was the only girl out with my boyfriend and our 3 other male friends but it was uncomfortable for everyone since she sat down on the other side of my boyfriend and interrupted our dinner for around 40% of it. To top it all off her coworker caught her sitting with us and said they hadn’t realized it was her. She walked away and told us that she hoped to see us again and if not maybe in another life.

Fun new Korean BBQ place that just opened! Cute interior design and it’s really large in here! We loved everything we ordered (except the intestine was a little tough and I like it sliced more than it was) but everything else was great. Can’t wait to come back again! :) They gave us a free gift at the end and a discount as well (they didn’t say why but I think it may have been because I was posting pictures on Instagram)

It is up a flight of stairs so it may not be very accessible to anyone in a wheel chair. I saw a review claiming they got denied for not having a reservation but there are plenty of tables here and we did not have the same experience. We were seated right away at 5:45pm. It got really full closer to 6:45 when we were leaving. I had a great time. Better than the other KBBQ place in the area. (Almost as good as the one we used to have in Providence that shut down but they JUST opened this week so I think they’re still trying the hang of things. Maybe they’ll be just as good!) It’s a little slow compared to other chain kind of KBBQ places but not too bad. The sides take longer than the meats to arrive. Unfortunately we never got to try the food despite waiting 1.5 hours.

We arrived at 7:06 pm on a Thursday and weren't expecting a long wait, but when the hostess said it would be 1 to 1.5 hours we decided to wait it out, they took down my husband's name and cell #. We left and returned 1 hour later. Still no call, so I called them and the hostess said they were clearing a bunch of tables and would call me back in 15 mins to "see what they have left" . . . 20 minutes later I call back and they ask if we want to do a hot pot or BBQ, we said we'd take whatever they have, the hostess says she'll see if she has something, puts me on hold and comes back to say nothing is available. I asked why they had us wait for 1.5 hours if they weren't going to have a table and she didn't have an answer other than some people may have gone over their 2 hour time limit.

I know they're a new business and we will try again, but it's a little ridiculous to have people wait 1.5 hours and tell them you can't seat them. I hope management takes note and finds a better way to manage their wait list. We won't be back without a...
