REAL REVIEW: Sweetie Pie's Ribeyes
6720 NE Loop 820, North Richland Hills, TX 76180
I've been in training in Dallas for Bathroom Remodeling, Windows, etc.
Thought I'd tried this place and TBH... VERY DISAPPOINTED.
I arrived at the opening (5pm).
Let's get right into it.
ROLLS (8): Were soft and medium to large. They were much better warm with soft butter.
They didn't serve CHILI (5) on its own. So I had to get the entree which came with a SALAD (3) or should I say, 95% Lettuce. I also received SAUTÉED MUSHROOMS (6) as a side. The CHILI "Texas tradition, made from Certified Angus Beef® Ribeye steak makes this well seasoned homemade chili special. Served with shredded Cheddar cheese, freshly chopped onions, and crackers"
So NO beans, so I was excited about that however, when it arrived, it had no juices... It tasted dry. Seasoning was lacking so I had to use the old S&P. The size of the bowl was disappointing for the price. The SALAD (iceberg) was cold and mostly lettuce. The MUSHROOMS were not bad, but weren't great.
ROASTED VEGGIES (7): Were not bad, but weren't wowed. Just... Meh.
GREEN BEANS (7): Were cooked right, but lacked seasoning and were barely lukewarm.
Now onto the star of the show!!!!
24 oz RIBEYE (3): Asked for Rare to Medium Rare... And some parts were Medium Rare. But this was unique and not in a good way. Some areas were Well Done, other areas were Medium and the majority of the steak was dry-tasting. Some pieces were tender and other pieces were chewy. The crispy seared outside was okay... Not bad, but not what I'm used to. I tried to take as many pics to drive the point. I left about half the steak on the plate as much of it was too dry and overcooked.
TEA (9.5): Tasted fresh and clean. Best item on the menu.
SERVICE (9): Brady was a nice fellow. He was attentive and mild-mannered.
Atmosphere (7): It is warm and has a great rustic look, but it was dark and where I sat was way in the back. There was a fireplace, but couldn't see the frames in front of where I was sitting. Great size parking lot they share with their sister company, Babe's Chicken.
Overall (5): This is a ONE & DONE.
$107 down the drain and before anybody scoffs at the price, I was eating salads, avocados, and healthy options all week. So I thought I'd treat myself. Unfortunately, for me, it was a BUST!
Very...
Read moreTHE NOT SO GOOD FIRST ** I decided to come update my review with my mother's comments to give another opinion of this place because everyone views things differently. Decent food she says but first complaint no mixed drinks only beer and wine. 2nd too expensive for what you get. 3rd complaint ... menu options are very limited. Yes not much variety at all I will agree with that. I was surpised it's a one page menu. Dassit! lol now for MY own review: IMPRESSIVE. First time here and I have zero complaints and that's rare for me. 😂 Complementary Soft and warm Rolls and butter 5 Well seasoned Hushpuppies app 5 Doesn't come with any sauce. Sweet tea 5 Perfectly seasoned 10 oz Ribeye 5 I had read one person's review that said their steak came out with different temps through out but that most of it was "well done" and dry. This made me nervous so I did something Ive never done. I ordered medium rare hoping to end up with medium well to just done and it worked. It was perfectly medium well throughout. Tender and flavorful especially the fatty pcs. Oh em gee yum. The baked potato and salad were fine. Just your typical. Nothing special. Salad comes already dressed fyi for those that prefer dressing on the side. The Macaroni & cheese. I was a little hesitant on getting. The price of their sides are reasonable so I took a gamble and added it. At most restaurants this is a miss. It's often bland and not very cheesy. well for me personally I give theirs a 5. Nice Cheesy flavor and sauce not too thick or watery. Apple pie with brandy butter was yummy as well. I tasted a bite of my mother's smoked pork chop that was a 5 as well. Perefectly seasoned. Now it is a bit pricey for their steak i would warn ya but thankfully everything I got exceeded my expectations so my bill with tip just for me alone was 78 dollars but I exited (with leftovers on hand) feeling well pleased. Service was great. Everyone was warm and welcoming and gave a friendly farewell/see ya next time. I grabbed the manager to compliment my waitress and the food. Definitely recommend. I'll be back but mother said it's not...
Read moreHubby and I had been seeing this place as we drive through NRH for a while now. My husband wanted to try it. We decided to drive out to see what it was like. The one and will be the only time we dine here. First, the service was great. The server was so sweet, she checked in on us, made sure our drinks were full, and had a sweet smile. The decor was ok. Very southern. I kept seeing spilt water or liquids on the floor in several spots, which stayed on the floor and never cleaned up, so that was a small hazard. Let’s get to the food. The prices there are a “Holy Cow” shock. For it not being a high end restaurant, I was very shocked at the fact that a steak is extremely expensive there. We do eat at a lot of expensive restaurants, so I thought maybe it was because the food was going to be fabulous. Boy was I wrong! My husband and I split the largest ribeye. We ordered it Medium, it came out well done. They burnt the meat, so it was so dry and no flavor at all. When I bit into it, as I had it in my mouth, I took a breath in through my mouth and the smell of cat food it me. I almost gagged. Not a good thing. The fried mushrooms were hand battered, which they tasted ok. But were so greasy, that oil lined the plate and the lettuce that the mushrooms were laid on. The broccoli soup was very thick, almost like eating rice pudding, but it was actually soup. The rolls before dinner were actually good, and warm. It’s not a restaurant I would recommend, nor will we be returning. I’m giving a 2 star only because of the service. If it weren’t for the sweet server, I would have not paid, I would have spoken with the manager about the food, and would have walked out on...
