Last night we ate here. It had been a long day out celebrating my son’s birthday. Our food was mostly really good.
The issue was our waitress. She was incredibly rude, crass and continued to make us feel unwelcome. She kept making comments like we were doing things wrong. The whole dinner she made us feel the need to apologize for being there. She became hostile because our pizzas were brought out on pedestals. We took the pizza trays and moved them to the table. We had a our 5 year old and our baby and feared they’d be knocked down.
The waitress rushed over and treated us like idiots saying the varnish would get ruined. Fine. Perhaps communicate that. Perhaps communicate it in a way that doesn’t treat your customers like idiots.
We had our reasons, we were trying to avoid a disaster.
She did her best to avoid our table. When she did bother to check on us, it was just rude tones, rude statements and we just felt a huge need to hurry up, eat our food and leave.
I’m Italian. We don’t rush with our food. I also enjoy the warmth that one would expect comes with dining in an Italian restaurant.
It’s just sad. A sad experience. And the waitress is a sad, mean lady.
I would steer clear of this place.
Follow-up to Joe Owner,
I understand being understaffed causing issues. I do not understand how that justifies treating customers the way our waitress did. We were also close enough to hear the way she was communicating with other diners and the tone was different than how she was speaking to us. That indicates to me this wasn’t based on there being a staff shortage. She just decided to take her mean demeanor out on us. Despite all of this, my husband still left a generous tip. And post COVID or not, common courtesy can really go a long way. Especially if you want customers to return. I stand by what I said and more so seeing that you seem to be defending the way our waitress treated us. And it was only our waitress that was rude. The rest of the staff was...
Read moreThe pizza was amazing.. but unfortunately this service was below average. Had a slight issue with the perpetrator of this establishment.
They were busy, which is always a good sign. But .. while I was in the little lobby in front of the counter.. My freshly baked pizza was placed on the front counter, not covered while people walked in and out around my pizza.. then the unimaginable happened.. A young girl walked up to my sheet pizza and put her face in my pizza to smell it.. while her long hair fell in it.. As the lady behind the counter scolded the girl and told her not to do that , it’s not her pizza.. The lady proceeded to cut the sheet pizza and was getting it ready for purchase.. when the other customer and I watched this in the lobby .. We looked at each other in shock.. I jumped up and asked ‘Who was the sheet pizza for’ The lady behind the counter say Gina.. ( me) .. I thought I was going to be sick.. I said, I’m not buying the pizza.. because of what just happen.. The Kitchen Manager quickly ran up front and started to explain to me that the young lady is special needs.. I said.. that’s not why I’m upset.. I’m upset because the lady behind the counter cut the pizza after face and hair was in it. . and if I wasn’t standing there to see it. She would have sold it to me... that’s why I’m upset.. I come to find.. It was the owner.. cutting the pizza.. and her son the kitchen manager that was defending his mother’s honor.. and yelled at me, saying that , This is his mom. And not to say anything wrong about her. I’m not saying anything about her .. I was irate and sickened because of her actions and quality of product. What happened to pride and quality??? What happened to cleanliness?
I understand. I love my mom too But wrong is wrong.
I will not be returning . I could have bought my pizza anywhere. But decided to keep it in...
Read moreMy first time at Augie's was approximately 20 years ago. Had ribs and pizza and didn't enjoy my meal at all. Tonight, March 2023 was my first time back since then. When we walked in there was a sign saying wait to be seated, a woman behind the desk said someone will be right with us. After several uncomfortable minutes standing at the sign, we were told to pick either of the booths up front. Several minutes later a waitress came by and gave us menus but did not even take a drink order. Several minutes after that she told us that their "technology" wouldn't link our order to our table if we could move to a different booth..... (There's probably 10 tables with six tables already occupied and eating, how hard would it be to really know where the order goes?) But we move to another booth anyway. After being there for probably 12 to 15 minutes not getting any attention or a drink order taken, we decide to leave and try a competitor across the street. Maybe we'll try again in 2043.... UPDATE 3-29-23 The owner reached out and apologized for the fiasco earlier in the month. My wife and I decided to give it another shot, and we are very happy we did! The service and food excellent! We ordered a pizza and a half rack of ribs dinner. Everything was perfectly cooked and tasty. I'm kind of a cole slaw connoisseur, and the Cole slaw was excellent! We will definitely be back to try some of their other offerings. Check it out, it's worth it! Update 9-16-24 Excellent meal! Chicken Parmesan with Spaghetti, Salad with cheese, olives, hot pepper rings, bread and butter! Tons of food, tasted...
