Arnie's Dog House — Restaurant in North Township

I see a lot of positive reviews for this place and I thought I would try them out. I find it hard to believe these reviews are legit. This place has the worst service I have ever seen anywhere. My wife and stopped by today (Sunday) around 5:30pm. There were a few people in the dining area and two people working behind the counter. We stood by the counter for 25 minutes without any acknowledgement that we were there waiting to order. This is not hyperbole. We were standing next to the counter trying to place an order for 25 minutes. The two people working walked by us numerous times. It is a small place with only about 8 seats at the counter. They even made eye contact, yet they refused to acknowledge us.

I finally asked the guy behind the counter what we need to do to place an order. I had to ask with his back turned toward me. He would not turnaround to talk. He pointed to the counter and said "here, but we are too busy right now to deal with it." I said we have been here 25 minutes waiting and our order hasn't even been taken. He said, "yeah, we are busy. We'll get to you eventually." We turned and started to walk out when a guy at the counter said he has been there for an hour waiting for his food. I said, "Seriously?" He said yes. I shook my head in disbelief.

This place sells hotdogs, french fries and mostly premade food. I saw them making hotdogs. Took them about 15-20 seconds to make a dog. The fry's took about 2 minutes to cook. Nothing they make takes an hour. Thee staff is unorganized, rude and I doubt they take food preparation seriously. Was better to leave than get food poisoning from someone that could care less about their customers.

Potential tip: I did notice food orders were coming into their system while we were waiting. I suspect frequent customers have discovered their service is terrible. I believe they are placing orders for pickup from their website or Google. No one physically in the restaurant was taking phone calls or anyones order during the time we...

This place seemed to be a little gem, so my girlfriend, dog, and I walked in and gave them a shot. The inside is very slim and has a small counter for dining in. It is a really small place, but I could already tell we were going to eat greatness by the smell of the air.

We ordered the After 3 Special, which entailed four hot dogs. It was roughly $8.00. I got a plain Hot Dog and a Hot Dog with mustard. My girlfriend got her two Dogs her own way. We got an order of Fries and also a 6 piece nugget order. Their prices were friendly. It took a bit, but they cooked it fresh in front of us.

We took it to our vehicle to enjoy in the parking lot as the anticipation of eagerly waiting for that first bite was dreadfully eating me inside. The plain Hot Dog was what I bit into first and for having nothing on it, dang it was good! The Hot Dog with mustard was the real winner for me. I loved them both, though. The Fries were greased up and had a good taste of salt as well. I’d say they paired with the Hot Dogs flawlessly. The Nuggets were okay. They weren’t too flavorful, so that’s their one flaw for me.

The service was friendly and there weren’t any issues there.

Overall, this is a pretty quick stop for some quality food with a kick of grease! I recommend their Hot Dogs highly and I’d love to return...

I’m 60 and have been going to the Whiting Arnies for lunch since I was in high school in the very early 80s. The food has always been exceptional. About 2 months ago we stopped in and we noticed a lot of updates inside such as the menu board, shirts and caps for sale and other new details. When talking with one of the grill personnel they mentioned that the restaurant has new owners. Luke’s the owners of Luke’s gas stations bought them out. The food was still good that day. I had my usual chili polish valu meal my wife an original arnies hot dog meal. we stopped in again a few weeks ago for basically the same items we had last time and i was so disappointed in the new chili. It was like a red spaghetti sauce and was TERRIBLE. the hot dog was fine as original but what was called chili was nasty. i’m typing this as we just went last night sunday night 10/26/25 as my granddaughter likes Arnies and we had the grandkids for the night. the food was good but definitely missed my ARNIES CHILI opting for polish with mustard and onion.
