Cavalier Inn — Restaurant in North Township

First off I’m just gonna say I know this building is very old and has been around for a very very very long time so major renovations are absolutely needed from the time you walk in and you can see that. The guy who greeted us was extremely kind. We were the only ones in the entire restaurant which made me a little nervous being. I read the reviews about how good the food was. I was thinking there would be more people there.. We ordered our drinks. I ordered iced tea and I never ended up getting it just water. Then he asked where we ready to order I said yes I said I would like the chicken. He said they didn’t have it because the girl was on vacation. Then I said OK can I have the open roast beef and he said they don’t have it I said well then can I have the shrimp or do you have to go out and catch them?Lol So I ordered a shrimp dinner that had six little shrimp and a Baked potato, they need some training on presentation. My husband and friend ordered the perch and shrimp and fries and there was a lot of food on that. They were very happy with that. My other friend ordered the Polish platter which she said was very good and there was a lot of food on that also. The bar needs an extensive cleaning and decorating. I attended a get together with more than 20 people and the service and quality of the recipes was excellent. I am Polish and know good Polish food and this food was good Polish food. I have already recommended this place to a friend the day after the get together. I plan to come back soon as well. The Golumpki/Golabki was a show stealer, the sauce had more than a traditional sweat taste to it, a hint of paprika perhaps. Of course the home made Pierogi were delicious. The Banquet Breaded Chicken ( has to be pre-ordered ) was so tender the meat fell off the bone. We had many more dishes , to many to describe here , none disappointed me . I was so disappointed, when we were arrived we were told we would have to wait they were behind on orders, that wasn’t a issue because my family really had a taste for polish food. They had only one person taking orders and serving, he was very polite and tried his best but you could tell he was over whelmed, soup has brought cold, all the food was very bland ask for salt and pepper never received it. Had to ask for bread. Potato pancakes were burnt. Mash potatoes were stiff like past. Restraunt was cold like someone forgot to turn on the heat. All in all just a bad experience.
