Danny Z's Grub & Pub — Restaurant in North Township

Had my husband's 30th birthday party here this evening. Before today, ive been here like 3 times. I like pizza, but my husband loves pizza. Im more of an Asian food lover so I never wanna get pizza, wings and bar food honestly. Since my husband loves pizza, I called 4 local pizza places that are big enough to have a birthday party.

Courtney (not sure if I spelled it correctly), answered the phone and was so nice when I asked about having a party there and discussing the date of the event. She said they had availability and we planned it all from there. She was so nice and helpful on the phone.

Today we walked into his surprise party, and not only was he surprised when we walked in, but I as the party host was even more surprised and excited how it all turned out. The party room is nice in general, and there's bathrooms right there just for the party room. It was separate from the rest of the restaurant and that was so nice because ive been there on a weekend and I know how loud and packed it can get. Courtney was so helpful in person at the party and everything went so smoothly!! I couldn't have asked for a better server / host. This whole experience made me want to have another party here if we have another for any other reason.

I used to order from here ALL the time when they first opened. Then I started have issues here and there. My child used to love their pizza. Until this weekend, when again, he got food poisoning from it. Now he never wants to eat from there again!. The last few times I’ve ordered my child and myself wind up with food poisoning! Literally the last 4-5 times. This weekend I ordered a pizza (my birthday weekend) and I had 3 extra kids. All 4 of us wound up with food poisoning. I went through a whole big jug of laundry detergent (brand new), and I’m still going to have to dry clean a bunch of items (which won’t be cheap), I missed two days of work and my child missed a day of camp, which was $45 for the day. I’ve worked in food service for almost 30 years and never in my life have I eaten at a place consistently and gotten food poisoning consistently. The employees must NOT be washing their hands and taking care of their cold storage food items properly! Additionally the food has become extremely greasy! Even if it’s a food item that shouldn’t have grease! Like their grilled chicken. There has been a few times my “grilled” chicken was literally put in the frier. Calling and complaining does nothing especially if you’re unable to...

We decided to try a new bar near Highland and came across Danny Z's, but we will absolutely not be returning. What started as a fun night quickly turned into a disappointing and outright offensive experience. While enjoying our evening, another individual—who is a current employee took it upon herself to tell me that she was Mexican but that my music was "too much." Later in the night, she approached me again while I was dancing to Spanish music (merengue, to be specific), saying, "Let’s make a deal—how about you stop playing Mexican music?" This was not only offensive but also completely ignorant. I even told her she could play whatever music she wanted as long as she paid for it, but her behavior was already out of line. My friends were understandably upset by how I was treated, but instead of addressing the inappropriate behavior of this individual, the owner's son decided we had to leave. It became abundantly clear that this place is not welcoming to anyone who isn’t white. If you’re looking for a place that values inclusivity and treats all patrons with respect, Danny Z’s is NOT the place to go. We won’t be back, and I’ll make sure to spread the word about...
