My boyfriend and I were recommended Fuzzyline by a friend and decided to visit after a morning of ice skating at the nearby Kube sports complex....
Upon entry, the restaurant is unassuming, with simple but clean furnishings and a cozy, humble atmosphere. A glance around showed the flatware and tools typical of a brewery: pink paper tasting plates, milk jugs repurposed to hold water, and paper-lined, rectangular food baskets. As we sat down, I prepared myself for some solid grub to cut through the hunger pains. Little did I know we were preparing to get a taste of world-class talent and culinary creativity.
Growing up with adventurous parents, I was lucky enough to try plenty of high-quality dining (Michelin rated restaurants like Alinea, Boka, Sepia, and RPM-- along with heavy hitters Miru, Avli, Andros Taverna, and Le Colonial). Internationally, I have witnessed how European freshness standards can so vitally impact the quality and flavor of the simplest ingredients.
The cuisine at Fuzzyline was at that caliber. Stunning. Vegetable forward. Locally sourced. Fresh and bright and playful (the punchy acidic notes in the goat cheese fritters almost had me licking the dish clean). The side potatoes that came with my roast beef melt were also listed at the bottom of the menu in this completely casual, take it or leave it kind of way, but as soon as I took a bite of the creamiest, crispiest, most perfect potato, topped with ACTUAL garlic aioli (not just lazily seasoned mayo) I realized three things: 1) Oh my god 2) I didn't think NWI would ever have food like this 3) I need to order some to take home to the parents (they loved them too). The melt was filled with quality beef and the sweet giardiniera inside kept every bite fresh and interesting. The chef seems to really lean into the power of veggies, utilizing them masterfully, and I want them to know that I SEE and HEAVILY appreciate that!
It's hard to fully describe the feelings that this experience gave me. From the atmosphere to the house-crafted beer and of course the food itself, Fuzzline shuns the pretentious, unobtainable, stuffy, and often wallet-gouging disconnect so many restaurants of its merit haughtily tote. The only tidbit was that it was (and, as I write this, still is ) freezing when we came in. The coolness that snuck in understandably sapped the food of its warmth so I'm eager to re-try some things in the warmer spring months (I see you, outdoor seating!). Overall, the food's freshness never fell into question-- locally sourced, I could see and quite literally taste the care and craftsmanship behind each dish. It's very rare to find a place that has the perfect balance of finesse and heart, but Fuzzyline hit every mark. Check this place out. You won't be...
Read moreI donât want this review to be twisted in anyway, because when I tell you I LOVE fuzzyline, I truly do. Some of the best beers I have had and I canât even begin to describe how good the food really is. I have been coming here since they opened, and always look forward to burger nights, wiener Wednesdays, and all the new brews that are dropped.
HOWEVER,
tonight my boyfriend and I decided to give ânoodle nightâ a try. Absolutely fantastic food and drinks, once again. We ordered 2 drinks, an app, and 2 entrees. Our bill was $95.00 (just for reference).
As my boyfriend and I were finishing up, my brother called and was passing by the area. For back reference, my brother is a recovering addict and is sober, so he chooses not to go into breweryâs and such, because of triggers. We were sitting on the patio, and basically finished, THERE WAS NO ONE ELSE AT THE ENTIRE RESTAURANT, so I had my brother stop by to catch up! He has a milkshake with him, and was dropping one off to me for later since we donât live together.
For some reason, according to our bald waiter who blamed the âchefâ my brother was not allowed to have a milkshake at that table and was scolding us like he needed his ego filled.
As members of this community who have truly supported fuzzyline, brought people there, spread the word, and supported yâall, it sickens me that you have the nerve to kick people out essentially. OVER A MILKSHAKE.
Just wondering, did your milkshake sales go down ?? Oh ya, you donât even sell them so it truly shouldnât matter.
The true point of this, is that by one dumb âruleâ or decision this place is loosing regulars. And you will continue to lose regulars.
My bill was $95.00. And I always tip above 20%. Not that time. But every time I have ever been to this establishment.
I hope that you try to understand your clientele before you run everyone away. You have amazing food, amazing beers, and some amazing bartenders & servers.
Sad that one ignorant rule can spoil a âfavorite placeâ for me.
My brother wasnât eating off the plates, we already asked for...
Read moreWith this place being so close to me, I had to try it! I came here with my significant other and I was definitely hoping it would be my next favorite place to relax at.
We were greeted immediately and told to sit wherever we liked. I wasnât crazy about the layout. It was still kind of quiet, though!
We were given a large container of water at the table, so that was excellent. It was refreshing with each serving we were brought! For Beer, I went with a Short 12oz Blueberry Emoji. It was a Sour for $5 and had Blueberries, Blackberries, White Chocolate, Rooibos Tea. This was a great beer to start with and to open my palette. I loved it. The next one I tried was a Short 12oz Cherry Emoji. This one was also a Sour for $5. It had Cherry, Black Walnut, White Chocolate. At first glance, it looked really similar to the Blueberry Emoji. It most definitely didnât taste similar! This was the best beer Iâve ever had. It flowed right down my mouth. I ended up getting a Tall 16oz not long after and it was just as good!
For food, we shared the Brewpub Double Cheeseburger. This had Short Rib Smash Patties, Sharp Cheddar, Savage Sauce, Grilled Onions, Bread and Butter Pickles for 16. We chose Crispy Taters to come with it. We also shared one of Berthaâs Sourdough Pizzas. We chose the Veggie. This had Mushrooms, Onion, Bell Pepper, Mozzarella, Provolone, Red Sauce for 15. The food came out pretty fast! The double cheeseburger was a greasy piece of paradise! The cheese and sauce teamed up to enhance the whole cheeseburger. The crispy taters were large and definitely shocked me when I first laid eyes on them. They had an enjoyable taste and I loved how unique they were. The pizza was fantastic! Each veggie on this thing was tasty. This was my favorite food item.
The service was prompt throughout my visit. I didnât have any problems.
Overall, this spot served me well! The beers are worth coming back for in my opinion. I canât wait to have another one.
