Haven’t been in this bar in years and last night reminded me why. I went to the bar asked for a “Neat” pour of Don Julio Blanco and a corona and the bartender ( older Caucasian blonde with glasses and has one leg tattooed) looked at me and said “ do u want a single or double” and I repeated “ neat pour” and she obviously didn’t know what that was and instead of learning something new that day she decided to get an attitude. She then said “we don’t have Corona” and I asked if she had modelo. She didn’t respond but opened a bottle of Dos Equis and pushed it towards me. I asked again if she had Modelo so she threw the Dos equis in the trash and pushed a modelo towards me. Then told me my total. She had a horrible attitude our entire interaction and my friend and I had no clue why! First off as a bartender myself I expect other bartenders to know proper terminology. Asking for a “neat pour “ is not rocket science. If she hates her job maybe it’s time to retire. Definitely won’t go back but I offer bartending classes every Monday Wednesday and Friday in Merrillville if that old bartender wants to learn more then how to make a vodka cranberry and how to open...
Read moreI can only evaluate based on two items and carryout as I did NOT eat inside.
I ordered at the bar, which the service was quick and pleasant.
I ordered the Restaurant Crawl special for $7 which was the Lake Perch basket with cole slaw & tartar sauce. I also ordered the sweet potato fries for $7.
Both entrees were excellent. The Lake Perch was just perfect. It's fried and not soaked in butter how some restaurant prepare it. So it's easy to handle and dip into the tartar sauce, which was on the sweet side. The cole slaw would have been better if it was in a separate bag or container instead of being with the fish as it was warm.
The sweet potato fries were cooked perfectly, too. Very tasty and I at every last one! It did not need any condiment to make them taste better.
I would go back - but not sure about eating indoors - it's definitely a bar area and it appears to allow smoking inside, unsure of that though. The bar has two sides and there are plenty of large/long tables spread out and you can dine as a single, couple or larger group. But there is a sign on the door that says 21 and over only....
