JJ Fish & Chicken — Restaurant in North Township

I've been wanting to do a review on this place for a while.

I give this place a 2 out of 5 Stars generally their food is pretty good but half the time they do mess up their orders.

Today I went in and they're not even closed they shut their grills off and you couldn't order half the stuff on the menu. Very unprofessional, I've worked in the food industry and normally you don't just do that especially when you are a take out fast food kind of business.

Customer service is normally pretty good but man tonight I got an attitude, like what do you expect kind of thing; very unprofessional. Never seen this person before must be new.

Not to mention the doors were locked on the one side the normal front doors and the side door was open with a huge puddle that's why no one likes to go through that door this location is slipping.

I worked in the food industry for quite some time and I have managed a store with fast food as well and I have to say if I treated and operated this way we'd be closed in 6 months if I was the manager. It does normally takes 20 to 45 minutes just for a walk-in. When there's no one in the restaurant.

Very sad since this place is very close to my home. You really shouldn't upset all your local customers especially the neighborhood you guys put yourself in. Every time I do go here and I'm with my friends that live around the neighborhood no one wants to go to you anymore because you guys take forever you mess up order you don't drop orders when you get the phone orders there's definitely some type of managerial situation going on. I hope your guys managers or owner sees this review because I speak the truth about all businesses I review I don't hold back ever.

Ordered chicken gizzards & while ordering I saw a batch already cooked in a styrofoam container & could tell from where I was standing they were over cooked. So, I specifically said please cook mine medium hard more on the softer side. I also ordered a small okra. I sit & wait for my food. They call my order I get it no okra he says oh I didn't hear that part. Oh ok that's fine I take the gizzards drive back to work. I wash my hands open my food & low & behold over cooked as hard as a rock smdh. I called & explained my dilemma they tell me to hurry back they close at 1am because they run out of food about that time (weird to tell a customer but ok I thought) so I tell the cashier I was on my way & I also say I'd like a small okra added... I get there food ready I look at the gizzards they're ok looking so I take them. Get back to work same routine wash my hands open my food gizzards not as soft as I like them but not hard as a rock as before so I eat one & dang it they're salty now lol & guess what else the okra is burnt 🤣.... I could only laugh because it is an amazing circumstance at this point. I didn't bother to call back beside they said they run out of food at 1am lol so I just take it as a lesson learned I will never eat here again.... It's a shame though they fry food all day & all day they fry it wrong.... Worst J&J ever ... If you want good fresh food the J&J on 127th & Paulina is...

The food here used to be SO good and now it's HORRIBLE. I recently ordered TWENTY chicken wings and they tasted like they were cooked in fish grease! I tried the fries and same thing, but they actually tasted worse than the chicken! All I could taste was fish grease! The JJ's on Indianapolis (by White Castle) is way better and the food is always fresh and the prices on some of the items are actually lower. I go to the one on Calumet because it's closer, but now I'll either go to Sharks or I'll just go to the JJ's on Indianapolis. Plus the one on Indianapolis has better prices. Another complaint that I have is when I order 20 wings, they barely give you enough fries so you have to order an extra side of fries, but when I order an extra side of fries, they miraculously add enough fries in the container that I didn't need the extra order. If a person orders 10 or more wings, there should be enough fries without having to order more! I've ordered hot peppers which are 2 for $1.50. The lady gave me ONE pepper and when I called she said yeah I only gave you one - WTH. The peppers at the JJ's on Indianapolis...
