So today was a first for us. Michael and I had the police called on us.
We we went to Denny’s in Northfield for lunch. It was really busy, but that was fine, we were not in a rush. It did take almost 20 minutes just to get drinks. No big deal. Michael order an omelet and I ordered a burger and fries and a side order of ranch to dip the fries. When my burger came out it was in pieces and no ranch. The waitress said that maybe it broke when they were putting it on the roll. I took a bite and a piece of burger fell on my shirt and dropped on my shorts. Michael asked the waitress for some water so I could dab the ketchup and grease off of my clothes before it set. Still no ranch. She brought the water and finally the ranch and told us that she was catching up with a friend from kindergarten. Every time I took a bite, something would drop out on the plate, a piece of the burger, a piece if onion or pickle.
Michael asked to speak to the manager as it was almost impossible to eat the burger. She came to the table and told it that it was a smash burger. They take ther pieces of burger and smash them together to make the burger. She said that the rest of the country has smash burgers and it just hadn’t reached South Jersey yet. That is how they make them, there is nothing she could do. Michael asked it it said it was a smash burger on the menu. She said yes and walked away. He asked her for her name and she just kept walking and ignored him.
I took a picture of the burger I ordered on the menu and no where does it say smash burger. It says a beef patty. None of the burgers said smash burger.
Michael again asked to speak to the manager again. She came out of the back, stood at the counter and yelled that she would not be spoken to that way and was calling the police. At no time did Michael raise his voice, curse or speak disrespectfully to the manager. The people at the tables around us said “call the police??? You didn’t do anything.”
The police came and came to our table and we showed them the burger and he said that we should just pay the bill and leave, but to be aware that Denny’s could file a trespass notice against us. He said that if we refused to pay the bill we would be arrested.
At no time did we refuse to pay the bill. Not paying the bill was never even a thought. We were not offered a remade burger or any kind of compensation for the terrible burger. Not even an I’m sorry.
Apparently if you go to Denny’s and are not satisfied with your meal you cannot complain or even bring it to the manager’s attention or the police will be called and you, as the customer will be wrong and will be threatened with arrest over a $10.00 burger.
When michael said he would be calling Denny’s corporate office, as the officer had suggested, the manager laughed and said “ I’ll still be here tomorrow” and the officer asked Michael if he was threatening her.
Obviously we will NEVER EVER patronize a Denny’s restaurant...
Read moreI have had some bad experiences at restaurants, but last night had to be the worst. We get to Dennys at 9pm and we are stand there holding our babies in our arms, and another family comes in and they start to bring them back first. I say " excuse me we were here first. So he sighs and says okay follow me. And with an attitude brings us to are tables says nothing and leaves without giving us any children's menus for the 5 children in our party. So than the waiter comes and I ask for an allergy menu because my 4 year old has severe food allergies. And he says they don't have one. And I said we come here to dennys offten and we always get one because restaurants are always changing there ingredients. And he says okay let me go ask. And he comes back and says no one knows what you are talking about we don't have anything like that so i asked him if I could ask the manger and he said they are out tonight he is in charge. So I asked him to ask another employee again and with an attitude he says okay he and comes back and says no one knows, and than says ill come back when you guys figure things out and doesn't let us order drinks. So I look it up on my cell and finally find the allergy menu online and call the waiter over and said I found one online we are ready to order. So we all order and than are food starts to come. He brings my sister and her husband the wrong order and we keep having to call him back because he keeps forgetting every ones side orders and he forgot my sons meal. Than as we are eating with the lights above us flickering from bright to dim hurting our eyes, my wife finds some ones hair in her food. I tell the waiter and he says "I've been in the food indrustry for 20 years I know all the tricks. So a nother waiter came behind him and said just take it off the bill. Than its comes time to pay and they were trying to take the kids meals of and they said they couldn't figure out how because after they took my wife's meal of the system wouldn't work and than they said they couldn't split the bill because they couldn't figure out how. So than one of us end up having to pay for all 11 people. And as we were trying to pay one of my party asked for a to go box and he said you have to wait iam taking care of this other table and never came back, my sister end up having to go up and get one.

First when we walked in we were RACIALLY profiled by the hostess. She was all smiles when she saw the door opening once she saw us and heard my family speaking Spanish among themselves she gave us a nasty look and with a nasty demeanor rolling her eyes and a look superiority She asked how many I clearly stated 4 and I requested a booth and stated that we would wait if one wasn’t available. She processed to take us to a table in the middle if the restaurant. When I stated that we would of preferred a booth she said that there wasn’t one available. However there was a booth in front of us, so I asked if could sit there? she said “SIT YOURSELF IF YOU WANT TO SIT THERE”.since when do you treat your customers in that manor?
,AND THEN THE SERVES FROM HELL CAME
we asked for coffee with milk or creamer and regular sugar. When she returned with the coffee we asked for a minute while we reviewed the menu. When she returned 10 minutes later we still had no utensils or creamer. again I asked for utensils she came back with UNWRAPPED DIRTY UTENSILS and stated”if you want napkins you have to wait cause I don’t know where they are.” My husband went to the bathroom to rinse them. She came back 15minutes later no napkins no sugar no creamer and NOW COLD COFFEE! I requested to speak to a manager Because while everyone else was being served we were ignored and treated poorly we waited patiently for 30 minutes before receiving proper service by a manager and that was because I had to get up and find the manager, and that’s when Jesenia A. Came to our RESCUE!
I guess if you are BLACK OR BROWN you don't get the service you deserve UNLESS you get served by someone that looks like you.
I believe that this manager should receive the recognition that she deserves due to her friendliness and exceptional customer focused service. I can only imagine when Jesenia A. isn't there how many unsatisfied customers You have and I only say this because while we were sitting there another hispanic family was treated the same way and Jesenia had to go to there...
