Today we ventured off into our neck of the woods this diamond in the rough!!! A small little restaurant named Taqueria Rendon in Northfield, NJ. TACOS are one of my favorite foods!! Unlike Chinese food, Mexican food for me is always delicious and fulfills my bottomless pit of a stomach!

Whenever I go to a new restaurant, I usually order the special for the night or the plate the waitress recommends. I went with what the latter and oh boy, it did not disappoint!!! It was like a taco & tostones had a baby! At first bite, I did not know what had happened to me. I paused, so that I could process this euphoric feeling that I began to have as eating my Carne Desmechada (Shredded Beef) Patacones. It was delectable!! They are geniuses!

Doug had the Beef Birria Tacos with Consome sauce! I, of course had a little bite of that and it was equally as good! The waitress came up to ask if we needed anything and I asked her what kind of juices were in the the fountain. She explained that they make Orchata (Rice Milk) and Parcha (Passion Fruit) juice every morning. I ordered the Parcha. It was great!

Before we left I wanted to try their Tres Leche cake. She said that aunt of the owner bakes these cakes. I boxed my remaining food not because I didn't want to finish it but because it was massive. It was just an amazing experience! 10 out of 10 recommend! Take a trip to Northfield and...

My husband and I ordered through Uber Eats, and when we got home, I realized the toppings for my bowl were missing. At 39 weeks pregnant, that small disappointment hit harder than usual, and I couldn’t help but get emotional. We called the Northfield location just to see if there was anything they could do—maybe a partial credit or something for next time since we live 20 minutes away. Unfortunately, the person on the phone hung up on us, which only made me more upset and, honestly, had me in tears.

I reached out on Instagram to share what happened—not out of anger, but just hurt over how we were treated. Almost immediately, the owner himself called me. He was incredibly kind, apologized sincerely, and made it clear this is not how he runs his business. Then, to my surprise and absolute gratitude, he personally hand-delivered a new bowl to us.

That small act of kindness meant so much to me in that moment. Mistakes happen, and I understand that—but being met with empathy and genuine care was everything. The owner went above and beyond, and it truly touched my heart.
