Don Carmelo's Mexican Grill & Tequila Bar — Restaurant in Norwalk

Ordered 2 cheese nachos for my children from the kids menu after asking the waitress the portions if 1 order was enough for 2 children she said no, so I figured we needed 2 orders..Not sure the waitress was well aware of the kids menu portions..When we received the Nachos the 1 order would have been more then sufficient for both children, it was quite large for an adult..The cheese on both stacked orders of Nachos was extremely over cooked to the point it became very dry & hard to chew for the kids, basically stale, they refused to eat it at all..Rice tasted like it was the Uncle Ben brand on the hard side with no flavor to it, ordered chicken fajitas for $24.95 & only received 4 small strips of chicken and an excessive amount of mushrooms and onions, the 3 mini flour tortillas were cold and also stale decided to just pack the meals to go..We decided to order churros as the children were still hungry and wanted a dessert..Churros were raw inside burned and stale on the outside, children were again disappointed and only ate the ice cream with whip cream on the plate..Surprisingly, waitress never questioned why we requested so many containers and packed the majority of the food to go...Service was ok, waitress & bus boy were attentive not their fault food quality here needs work...Definitely a child friendly atmosphere, children were given crayons 🖍 and coloring sheets to keep busy while we waited for the food..It's definitely on the pricey side for the quality of...

The food was great no complaints. I have been going to this restaurant for a very long time. The waitress charged gratuity to our bill automatically. When asked why she said the computer does that sometimes automatically. That's BS I was there just 2 weeks prior and I didn't get charged GRATUITY automatically.

So now I asked for a manager. The entire time I'm being respectful and with a low tone. The manager not once explained why? He said this happens sometimes, Usually its when the party is 5 or more. (Our party was 3 only) he kept nodding his head and that he understands what I'm saying, Also he remembers seeing us come there often. Upon leaving I mentioned to him she cheated herself because I always leave 20%.

My point, I believe I was profiled by a waitress that never waited on us before and she thought because of my skin color I wouldn't leave a tip so she charged it automatically. If the manager or waitress would have explained that this was new and it was being done to everyone that would have been fine. The manager could care less since he gave no valid...

Dinner last night with the family was NOT up to standard. First, made a reservation, confirmed it and they said they didn't have it when we arrived. Then came our drinks, not good. Margaritas had no flavor at all. I could not tell you what flavor I was drinking, but it certainly did not taste like what I ordered.

Ordered table-side guacamole, which is usually done perfect, when they listen. My daughter doesn't like onions or tomatoes in her guacamole and asked twice for them to be left on the side. The onions were left out, but not the tomatoes. Otherwise, tasted pretty good.

Then came dinner. My steak fajitas were horrible, dry and no flavor. My daughters Chile Verde, the pork was totally dry and hard, and the Verde sauce did not help. She said the sauce was very bland. Hubby's dish was just okay, carnitas fajitas. He said he ate it because he was starved. He hadn't eaten all day and was looking forward to dinner.

I'm very disappointed in this place lately. I've been going here for years and usually rate it 5 stars, but...
