I'm so sad to post this review because prior to this weekend I would have given 5 stars and shouted praise from the rooftops!
We order here very very regularly via Uber Eats, mainly regular pizza, Sicilian pizza, and broccoli rabe with sausage.
This weekend when our Sicilian pizza was delivered, you could tell just from opening the box that it wasn't fresh. The cheese wasn't gooey, temp was tepid. Some of this is the risk of delivery, though we did order priority service. Worse, it was quite burnt. We cut the burnt crust away and intended to eat it, but it tasted as stale as it looked...almost like it was an hours old pie that someone didn't pickup, they put back in the oven to reheat but burnt it, then sent to us. It was inedible.
Because we loved this place so much, we thought we would call and give the feedback. The guy I spoke to was defensive and combative. Finally he offered to make us a new pizza but we have to pick it up. I called back a few minutes later and said yes, we would like the new pizza, to please fire it now and we would be there in 20min.
We arrived and the pizza wasn't even prepared, let alone in the oven. They said "she never called back and said she wanted it"...which is false. They then started being critical of US saying "we obviously don't know what Sicilian pizza tastes like" and "so you want us to undercook this right?".
Ultimately we took home an undercooked pizza that was some weird pseudo Sicilian.
That will be the last time we go there. All they had to do was say "oh! We are so sorry to hear that, thanks for letting us know! Anything we can do?" And I would have been a...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Leonardo’s, a charming New York Style brick oven pizzeria located on Main Avenue in Norwalk, CT, and I must say, it was a delightful experience! From the moment I walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere made me feel right at home.
The menu offers a fantastic variety of pizzas, all made with fresh ingredients and baked to perfection in their authentic brick oven. I decided to try their classic Margherita and was blown away by the crisp, thin crust and the rich, flavorful tomato sauce. The balance of fresh mozzarella and basil was spot-on, making each bite incredibly satisfying.
The staff at Leonardo’s were friendly and attentive, ensuring that our dining experience was enjoyable from start to finish. They were knowledgeable about the menu and happy to make recommendations based on our preferences.
In addition to the delicious pizza, Leonardo’s also offers a great selection of salads, appetizers, and desserts. I highly recommend trying the garlic knots – they were the perfect combination of soft, buttery, and garlicky goodness.
Overall, Leonardo’s is a fantastic spot for anyone looking to enjoy a true New York Style pizza experience in Norwalk. Whether you’re dining in or taking out, you can expect high-quality food and excellent service. I can’t wait to return and try more of their delicious offerings! If you’re in this area of Norwalk this is THE pizza joint to checkout. Follow @fairfieldfooddude for...
Read moreI am from New Jersey and Italian and very picky when it comes to pizza and sauce. We got a menu in the mail for Leonardo's and I saw they had Sicilian pie and a brick oven. It was the perfect storm to try a new pie. I ordered the day we got the menu. When a new pizza comes to the door it's like Christmas. You have a box, it's unopened, and you don't know if you are going to like what's inside. I brought it into the kitchen, opened the top and the smell brought my kids into the kitchen like cartoons floating following a scent. I went right for an end piece. When I bit into it, I was transported back into my grandmothers kitchen. She baked her own bread every week and made homemade pizzas with the sauce we bottled ourselves every year. I closed my eyes and just savored every bit of that first bite and then ripped through three more pieces. The dough was light and fluffy like a slice of her bread. The sauce is tremendous and tastes just like my families homemade bottled tradition that we do every year. The sauce, cheese, and bread altogether is like a symphony of sinfulness in every bite. I've been in Connecticut now for almost 20 years. This is the best pizza I have had since moving up here from New Jersey. Last night we got traditional pizza with the same great taste. Bravo, Leonardo's! This is our...
