I have been going to RGP locations for years and the Newington location and its employees have always been great. Ryan in particular is amazing. However, I recently had a couple of disappointing experiences in a row at this location. I did some trade-ins before this in Norwalk and the employee who I believe goes between Orange and Norwalk was great, very cool and chill guy who helped me with my trade-ins. He would have made this 5 stars easily. He has long-ish hair but moreso shaggy than long. Looks a bit like Johnny Tsunami I think, so you know who I am referring to.
However, the last couple of times, I was serviced by a small long-haired kid who looked a bit like a musician that I did not recognize. I attempted to bring items for trade-in including a Laserdisc player that worked. Instead of taking items in, he kept saying he was going to pass in the tone of being a manager even though he was not. I asked for and suggested reasonable solutions but he was not interested in doing anything logical. I even had a booklet of 55+ demo discs he hardly looked through and offered less than $2 for those. I attempted to trade in some accessories but he said the system was down. Again, I suggested letting social media followers know so they don’t waste a trip. Fell on deaf ears.
I left my phone number for a call back when the system was back up. Never received a call from him. Went to Orange today (6/28) in the afternoon and the employee was a pleasure and helped me with my trade-in without issue. I understand things might happen on any given day at a certain location and it has happened before, but this kid’s smug attitude and lackadaisical approach made me not want to return to this location despite the other employees there being cool and helpful. Just felt very shady with this kid and he was not a true representation of the RGP I have known and...
Read moreExcellent friendly staff, knowledgeable friendly and honest. I love going just to see what they have the stock is constantly updating and being added to. Fair trade in values especially for store credit and very fair reasonable prices. Of course things vary some prices are surprisingly low and great deals but everything is priced fair I’d say and If you’re buying a lot and ask for a few bucks off the total (a reasonable amount) they usually always help out. Also the owner puts on a retro game convention that’s a lot of fun and would recommend to anyone who likes the store. A rare gem in the gaming industry friendly employees and fair prices whether buying or selling. Everything from ps5 games and accessories to NES games and accessories. Went the first time a few years back looking for a NES advantage joystick they had multiple in stock for cheaper then anywhere else I could find. Unfortunately the one I bought had the turbo button stuck on I took it back the next day explained the problem they replaced it immediately and knocked some money off some games I was buying for the inconvenience and I’ve been going back ever since and can honestly say that was the only mishap I ever had there and they handled it perfectly. You never know what you’re gonna find there it’s a great place. I know this review is long but anyone who has been here will totally understand why, it’s hard to sum up everything great about this place bc there’s so much good stuff. Also they have Pokémon cards, collectibles and other fun stuff not...
Read moreAs a collector I am up to date constantly with how much my games are worth and information about what is what. I drive 30 minutes to the Norwalk location, and I sit there for 30 minutes while they check everything ( I brought close to $1,000 worth of games, cards and CIB console, and was told they would only give me $130). The company website mentions competitive pricing and making sure you get the most for what you are trying to sell. Well I can tell you first hand is that is not true. I recommend to stay away from trading in your games, cards, and merchandise here and sell on fb marketplace, eBay, or Mercari because you would get what it’s truly worth. They also ripped the plastic seal of one of my sealed games when checking it and didn’t even pay me back for...
