First and LAST visit to SoNo Harbor Deli & Cafe - we were looking for a new breakfast spot in the area to frequent since we are relatively new to the area. From the moment we sat down it felt rushed and unwelcoming. Our waitress was definitely irritated and over being there which was very obvious from the moment she addressed us. Very cold/short right off the bat - you almost felt like a burden for ordering coffee. For food we ordered two eggs with bacon and the corned beef hash with two eggs. She literally walked off before I was even done ordering. The runner brought us our plates and had no idea which one was which because of how little corned beef was actually on the plate. She first asked us if we could tell them apart and then was like “well it looks like you got the same thing”. We definitely didn’t, it just looked that way because of the massive pile of flavorless potato on both plates. One with specks of corned beef. One without. I also commented that my eggs were wrong and she just walked off. Likely didn’t hear me or just wasn’t listening. Eggs for both dishes were actually wrong and we never got our bacon. We thought we would get to address the issues however no one came back to check on us until they saw we were done and offered the check. At that point it wasn’t worth it. Everyone was running around, stressed, complaining to each other about checks and tables and guys in the back. I get that it’s busy but we were sitting at the bar and our waitress didn’t even make eye contact with us, let alone check on our food. You’re literally already standing there and would have taken 2 seconds to ask. Overall it was just a very uncomfortable visit and even though we live close by we...
Read moreI’ve been a regular at Sono Harbor, dining in often and occasionally getting takeout. The food has always been great, and the service from the waitstaff is consistently impeccable.
However, I’m writing this review out of serious concern regarding the kitchen staff. On multiple occasions, the music coming from the kitchen is louder than the music in the dining area—complete with dancing and singing like it’s a nightclub, which disrupts the otherwise relaxing atmosphere of the restaurant.
More troubling, though, is the behavior of some kitchen staff members. My girlfriend has started feeling uncomfortable due to the way certain individuals stare at her and try to get her attention. It’s unprofessional and inappropriate.
The last straw came during our most recent visit. I witnessed a cook attempting to engage with a very young girl. Thankfully, the server intervened immediately and told him to stop, clearly recognizing how inappropriate it was. I was shocked the girl’s father didn’t confront the situation, but regardless, that behavior is not only inappropriate—it’s unacceptable and potentially illegal.
I’m incredibly disappointed because I truly enjoy the food and the front-of-house service, but the actions of the kitchen staff are making this restaurant feel unsafe and uncomfortable. I hope management takes this seriously and...
Read morePlace was nice, food was good. My biggest issue was with the service. We got there early, we were one of 2 customers. They took our order and then never came over again and checked on us. 5 more groups of people came in and got their food before us. Clearly they messed up our order, but never came back to talk to us, check on us, offer more coffee when my cup was empty. The place is small, quaint…there are no more than 6 or 7 tables there and the staff could clearly see that everyone else was getting their food and we were still sitting there and no one ever came over to our table. People make mistakes, it happens; but to then be ignored is not acceptable. When I finally got up to ask about my food, without apology, I was told that they are waiting on the order. Then they forgot part of the order which we had to ask for: I’m sure that this place is great, seems to have a lot of regulars, the food was good and we went to this place on a recommendation. But today the service was bad enough for me to...
