BYBLOS RESTAURANT-THE ORIGINAL LEBANESE DINING EXPERIENCE IN NORWOOD
This is a great, Lebanese restaurant lead by a wonderful and worldly owner, born in the Middle East but whose second home is the Italian part of Switzerland, and who through quirks of fate wound up in in the Boston area, the easily accessible downtown Norwood.
His name is Maurice and he is so CHARMING and DISARMING that you feel instantaneously a member of a big family and at home in global village. (The customers come from the four corners of the earth).
The place reminded me of the classic Lebanese meals I enjoyed at Maroush Restaurant, a few streets up from Harrods Department store in London. I can still smell the Lamb Kebabs and beef Kebabs, or Dover Sole cooking on the charcoal brazier
I believe that at Byblos Cafe (Norwood) human connectivity is the secret specialty item on the menu not just the wonderful purple Turnip pickles and Olive appetizer you are served immediately upon entering.
A nod to the the beautiful Nellie, Maurice's sister in law about what Mezze you would like and within minutes you are served warm Spinach Pies, and wonderful bowls of the most sumptuous Hummus and Baba Ganouj you have ever had in your life, garnished with a puree of olive oil parsely, and garlic.
Every waiter and waitress is ready to strike ip a conversation if you initiate it ( and will leave you to yourself if you don't) as if you had grown up in the same Mediterranian Village went to the same elementary school, worked in your family groceria, Mercedes dealership, Rolex Watch Shop then than by some miraculous coincidence wound up bumping into each other for lunch at Byblos restaurant, 1000s of miles away.
There are dozens of delicious dishes on the Dinner and Lunch Menus (reasonably priced), so many in fact that this reviews would have to be the length of a Sunday New York Times Magazine Article to due justice to describing them.
To make some attempt at brevity, I recently went to Byblos Cafe with some family members , and to keep things simple we ordered the Byblos Family Platter #2. The Menu said "For Two". but in reality portions were so generous that there was plenty for the three of us. (Actually we had enough for almost four)
it was a graduation day for some local Boston schools and people were celebrating. there was also a big group from the Walpole Senior Citizens holding a big luncheon there, prior going to a nearby theater to see a local production of BYE BYE BIRDIE
BYBLOS FAMILY PLATTER #2 We were served a deluxe combination of our traditional Middle-Eastern platters (yes there are two). The first included Fattoush Salad with lovely Pita Chip,s and Parsely Lemon Dressing, Hommus, Baba Ghannouj,
Then just about the time that we used up all the available real estate in your stomach my friend the waiter brings a second big platter, Chicken Kabob, Kafta Kabob, Kibbee Layers, Grape Leaves, Grilled Vegetables, and rice. Price $49
I am a very busy business man and enjoy writing Yelp and Trip Advisor Reviews as a way of unwinding, Yet Byblos, let me assure you is not the kind of restaurant that is "One and Done," ie go there once or twice and then rarely if ever again.
I make it a point to go to Byblos, at least 2 or 3 times a month, and when I dont I almost feel guilty when I walk in the door, and see Maurice with his outreached hands and big...
Read moreI've had the pleasure of dining at Byblos several times now, and each visit has been an absolute delight. From the romantic ambiance to the delectable food, this Middle Eastern (Lebanese) eatery consistently delivers on all fronts.
Byblos has a spacious interior that is perfect for an intimate dinner or a lively gathering. On weekends, the restaurant comes alive with live music and belly dancers, providing an entertaining and captivating atmosphere. Despite the bustling environment, the service remains swift and attentive.
During my most recent visit, my fiancé and I decided to order the Chicken Hashweh once again. The dish was nothing short of divine. For those new to Middle Eastern (Lebanese) cuisine, Chicken Hashweh serves as an excellent introduction. But as someone who has grown up savoring these flavors, I can assure you that Byblos' rendition is truly top-notch. The nuts sprinkled on top were roasted to perfection, adding a delightful crunch to the dish.
A standout at Byblos is their homemade hot sauce, which is simply stunning. If only I could get my hands on the recipe to recreate its magic at home! To accompany our main course, we enjoyed a Tabouli salad, which was evidently crafted with love and expertise.
I must extend my compliments to the chef and the entire Byblos team. They have a true knack for putting together beautiful and satisfying plates that never fail to leave a lasting impression. Each visit to Byblos leaves me with a smile on my face, and I am certain that my fiancé and I will be returning time and time again. If you're in the mood for an unforgettable Middle Eastern (Lebanese) dining experience, Byblos is the...

Byblos went from 5 stars to 3 and now to a 1 star review. We came in with a large group and our server and the owner recommended to order the family style dinner cause we get a variety of food to share. It was for 8 us the total for that was $247 which wasnt bad but at the end of our dinner we got served with a bill tip included for $461. Almost double and the food was nothing to rave about. The appetizers were warmed up in a microwave you can tell on some of them that they were not really hot just warm. The baba ganoosh and hummus was the smallest plate I ever seen to share it was a joke. The meat plate that came out was chicken, steak and kafta. We all got one each another joke. We were charged $4 for a can of soda are you kidding me what a rip off. The bread was also an extra charge, we wanted a side of garlic sauce it was the smallest plate and they had the nerve to charge $3 for each serving. It's two table spoons worth. We didnt enjoy anything here. This place was our go to spot for Lebanese food for years and this will be our last time we enter this establishment huge rip off. The owner thinks he is clever with the way he up charges on every single thing. You are a loser for doing what you are doing. Norwood residents or anyone coming here pay attention to your bill as it will double in no time. We will never ever comeback here again as Byblos just lost loyal customers that have been coming here for years. Huge...
