In 2021 we used to live near Norwood and we ordered a few times from Shabu Lee. The food was ok, nothing special. But I am here to warn people of another aspect.
We used to make our order by phone with our credit card info. I use a service that allows me to create temporary or one time credit cards that can only be charged once and I used those to pay them.
Our transaction with the credit card, for our order, was on March 2021. In that same month, I see an attempt for a new transaction "Cbs All Access" for $1.00. Naturally it got declined due to my one time credit card but I can see all failed attempts. In April, another attempt from "Zbmyhuk Dfu" for $3.92. In August another attempt for $0.45, in September two more attempts and I got one more attempt on April 2022. All in all they tried to charge my card for 6 transactions, small amounts. Not sure what is going on there, perhaps some employee stole the card and it has nothing to do with management? Each order I used a different card and only one card number I used was attempted for additional charges.
Regardless, be very careful with your credit cards info by phone. If they tried to do this to me they might be already doing it to...
Read moreThis is my favorite restaurant in the world. It's casual and cozy and never intimidating. Also never full, probably because take out is their main gig. The food is so good. I am obsessed with the szechuan broth and regularly used to go in here by myself and get chicken combo and eat the whole thing in 20 min. I also love the sushi, always great quality. I used to come in here a lot with my band, often in a certain state of mind, and we would ask for "Triple Dragon Combo," which is not something they offer but then we would go on to explain that we wanted Red Dragon Maki, Dragonfly Maki and Dragon Maki. My wife is less of a sushi fan but she orders from their Chinese menu and the hot and sour soup, Rangoons, and Gau are fantastic. I have yet to be unsatisfied with my usual choices enough to try their Thai food except I usually get a Thai ice tea which is great. Always friendly staff and we often have friendly conversations. I hope it is the same forever. Anything else? Err, sometimes you gotta go around the block to find parking? It's never...
Read moreShabu Lee, Hot Pot, Japanese, and Chinese food all on the same menu. I had the Hot pot, which was a really good time, with fresh veggies, salmon, shrimp, and tofu. I find poaching or cooking your food fast but thoroughly, is a very healthy way to eat. It's not for everyone, though it could be. However, you have to have high grade fish and other foods that can be cooked. The restaurant doesn't have other sauces than soy sauce, which is one of the main reasons that I didn't give it a 5 star rating. For Hot Pot, you need at least Sesame paste or sauce for dipping. The help is just okay, but very aware of when your drinks are empty or sauce needs filling. The guys in the back who prepare all the food are very pleasant. The menu has so many great looking items. There were many people eating there at 2 pm on a Saturday before Christmas Eve. I'd go again, just bringing my own sauces. The prices were pretty high, but going out and eating quality food costs money, anywhere. There was a very large takeout business...
