Lewis' Restaurant & Grille — Restaurant in Norwood

I've been to this restaurant several times. The food is always good and sometimes great. We went there last night and there was plenty of seating for outside so we asked to sit there cause we generally don't eat indoors these days. They had several of empty tables and went to seat us at the one high table they had which is ok if you are at a sports bar or they have no other seating but we weren't asked if we wanted to be at a high table with stools rather than a comfortable normal table. We asked to sit at a low table and of course they let us, but it would show a bit of caring to ask first. Small details but things you notice when you have worked on the industry for 10 years. Later when we ordered drinks we ordered 2 normal sodas and 2 diet. When the waitress brought them I double checked because I had a feeling that she would confuse them (sometimes you get this feeling and have to check) and she said that she actually separated them on the tray to make sure she got them right. The reason I checked is cause my wife is diabetic so she has to avoid sugary drinks and if she has any sugar she has to know so she can adjust her insulin intake to avoid serious medical issues. I also get diet so if she ever needs to take a sip from my drink it's not an issue. One of our friends drank her soda and right away she said this one is diet. She really dislikes diet sodas and can tell right away. So then my wife took her test strips she uses to test her blood sugar to test her soda (diabetics will tell you how they check) and sure enough it was normal so she traded. So overall a good place but I think the service could use work. A retired coworker goes there every other Wednesday and I started meeting him occasionally. Service is better for regulars. It's just that I wish the service was great for everyone. Not just the regulars. One final things to point out is that I've been going here for years and the quality of the food has deteriorated a bit . I would tell people to go here to get the best burger ever, and now it's a little better then just ok. And the wings are not good. To say I’m disappointed Is an understatement. I recently moved to the area and had heard nothing but great things about this place. I decided to bring a friend so we can enjoy some dinner and drinks outside on a Sunday night. Our experience was absolutely not what I was expecting. We sat down and weren’t even handed menus and got asked what we wanted to drink, took the waiter a minute to realize there are no menus in front of us. We got asking about some summer special drinks that we were interested in and he could barely give us an answer. We finally put in our food and drink orders then we waited. Patiently waited as we watched people who sat down after us receive waters, drinks and appetizers, yet we didn’t have a glass of water in front of us. About 30 minutes later my friends “side salad” comes out, mind you still no water or drink. The salad came out incorrect as she stated “please no cheese”, at this point we lost our appetites because our experience was so unenjoyable. To add to that our drinks come out completely different then what was described to us. At this point we had enough and decided to leave. While I’m looking for the manager the waiter comes by and slams the waters on our table, and when I tell him we’re all set I don’t get 1 apology, a “can I get you something else to drink” NOTHING. It’s almost as if we were inconveniencing him by being there. I understand a restaurant being busy and it seemed so “understaffed” and that point I would have rather them turn us away then to treat us like this. I can’t even think about coming back after that awful experience. If this waiter really was a manager, I am definitely concerned because he had 0 customer...

A lot to say. First the good: good menu with variety, great mac and cheese, and nice seating. They also put the kid's drink in spillproof container.

The bad: service was terrible. We were the ONLY customer at 5pm to keep in mind.

1. They got the first drink order wrong - gave wrong beer. Fine, whatever, ordered a second beer made sure it was correct

2. Apps brought out were correct (2 orders of zucchini chips and 1 order of cheese curds) - cheese curds were all stuck together but decent tasting

3. 2/6 main orders were wrong. Somehow they gave us French dip (no one ordered it) and salmon salad. Orginal orders were brunch burger and salmon dinner with house salad and ranch dressing. They gave the salmon in a salad with NO dressing. They took back the french dip and gave brunch burger. We kept the salmon salad but they never got the ranch dressing until the end.

4. The waitress never came over after food arrived until we asked for the check. By that time, there were 3 other tables there.

5. Chicken parm according to the person who ordered it had terrible marinara sauce. The steak tip was cooked correctly (medium rare) but chewy.

6. We weren't initially sure why the orders were so wrong (was it the order or the back of house. After thinking about it and seeing the check, it had to be the order. First, two members of our party didn't even see her write down the orders when it was put in, and second, the check included the French Dip we didn't order but they made, brought out, and took away. We ended up paying for it but took the cost of the French Dip out of the tip.

At the end, it's not worth the hassle to try this place again. Not a good...
