I have been coming to Oishi since 2017. I fell in love with the atmosphere, food, and the phenomenal service. Today, there has been a drastic decline, mostly on the service side of things. I’m not sure if the owners changed, but the cheery older man and his wife I do not see any longer and they have been replaced with a very rude woman. I came in today with my Girlfriend for Valentine’s Day on a reservation. When we came in, I asked if we could have a seat in the back part of the Restaraunt to have a more private experience, the woman I mentioned previously scolded me when I asked and said there was “no tables available back there” when half the room was unoccupied and we had a reservation. This was very uncalled for and definitely left a bad taste in my mouth since we had come here for a nice time for the holiday. The food has also declined since I originally started coming here but not too drastically. It’s definitely hit or miss though if it’s just good or REALLY good, where it had used to always be a very phenomenal experience. Atmosphere has remained the same, the usual jazz playing sets...
Read moreThis is one of my absolute favorite restaurants in all of Michigan. 🥰 It's so hard to find good izakaya (think tapas meets bar food but make it Japanese) and not only so they serve an excellent variety of dishes but they also have some of the best and freshest sushi around! They have a good selection of non- and alcoholic drinks (we enjoyed Kirin beer and Momokawa sake) and the staff is very kind and accommodating. Connor and I are what I'd call "campers" when we go out to eat. We're a very easy table, I'll ask a few questions but usually am very independent about ordering, but we like to order in courses and hang out for a while. Through the whole night (even when we didn't realize the kitchen was closing, because I hadn't been since before the lockdowns and their closing time is different, and rushed to ask her for 3 more dishes) our server was so nice and bubbly and very knowledgeable! She could answer all my questions about their unique menu and had some great suggestions too! Overall, each time I go to Oishi I know I'm going to leave happy and with a...
Read moreI'm giving 5 stars due to meeting all my expectations. I am not going to pretend I know everything about "traditional" Japanese ramen or blah blah they could of did this or that. They're trying to be a simple Japanese restaurant and I think they nailed it.
I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen. The base of the dish was a deep creamy stock with a small hint of sweet seaweed and perfectly seasoned with- what I assume was Dashi. Garnished with aromatic green onion and toped with the satisfying crunch of bean sprouts made for a very satisfying dish with just the soup alone. But along with it was the ramen, braised pork and a (slightly overcooked) soft boiled egg this has been one of the best meals I have had in Novi.
The pristine customer service was really what set this place off. The customer service here was some of the best I have had in a long time and the best I have had in Michigan by...
