This is quite a new restaurant, so I felt a little bit wary in trying it out, but I'm very glad that I did! The restaurant is tucked away in an unassuming strip mall, but the interior is clean, open, and friendly. There's a cute little Christmas tree in the entry-way (it's nearing Christmas), and the kitchen is to the left as you walk in. The owners and servers are Korean, and their roots show in the menu's offerings; bulgogi, Korean fried chicken (KFC), bibimbap, pajeon, and jjajangmyeon are some of the entree options. Everyone working were all very friendly, and I felt welcome as I came in from the cold. I got a chance to chat with the hostess a little bit while waiting, and she was also very friendly and personable.
The Korean dishes I ordered were hameul pajeon (seafood savoury pancake) and bulgogi to go, and they were both excellent choices! The pajeon was full of different types of seafood and veggies, ranging from scallops and octopus tentacles to shredded carrot and scallions. My family enjoyed sharing it: it was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and was superb with the included gochujang (which is essentially a mixed paste of mejugaru or fermented soybean flour, gochugaru or chili powder, and rice/wheat flour).
The bulgogi was also lovely, including mushrooms, onions, peppers, seaweed strips, and thinly-sliced cucumbers in the stir fry. If I had to critique anything about it, I might have preferred a little more of the marinade in the meat itself; it was well-marinated, but it seemed a little weak in flavour compared to bulgogi that I've had or made myself. Regardless, it was delicious, and we enjoyed it greatly. The portion was also generous enough that two people were able to eat it as an entree without feeling hungry afterward, and the included banchan (side dishes) were also excellent, ranging from potato salad to steamed egg strips to danmuji (pickled daikon) slices.
Honestly, though, the kimchi alone makes a visit to Yori worth it: it's some of the best I've ever had, leaning slightly more on the garlicky side than some other kimchi I've tasted, which was delightful.
We also tried the shrimp tempura roll, which contained the nominal tempura, as well as cucumber and avocado. In my experience, shrimp tempura rolls don't usually come with veggies, but these provided a welcome contrast to the panko-covered shrimp, and lifted the texture by providing some cool and crunchy variety.
I really enjoyed my gleanings from Yori, and will definitely be back soon to try the (recommended) Korean fried chicken... and to eat some...
Read moreI went here twice, the food was good. However, I give it 1 star because of how rude they are. I went there last night for dinning. I accidentally drop my earpod case, that cause me lost a pair of my earpod. I didn't notice until I got home. Today, I called them and asked anything by chance if they saw it last night when they cleaned up. They told me they don't understand what I'm saying and hang up the phone without say a word. I called back and she gave the phone for a guy. He still said he didn't understand whatever I said. Okay, I spelled out the #earpod" word, and he said it too busy, they not gonna have time to check for me. Wow, are you telling me that you didn't clean up your restaurant yesterday? If you do, you see it, because I went straight home after that. You are better telling me you didn't see it, I won't get mad than you hang up the phone without a word, and say something rude like that. I never ever go back there, such a bad...
Read morei used to come here often for takeout and dine-in but my latest take-out experience was so bad that i wont return. i arrived 50 minutes before closing and was told dine-in was closed. i asked when they closed dine-in so that i know to come on time, and did not get an answer. i asked again and they still would not say when. sounds like they just close whenever they want to, so how is the customer supposed to know when the cut-off time is?
got home with my food and it was awful. the rolls were not good at all, everything had such a bad, bland taste. i normally love miso soup but they somehow made the worst miso soup i've ever had. it was extremely watered down and had one tiny tofu in it. i did not finish anything that i ordered, i only ate what i could stomach because i had already paid, and it was late so everything else was closed. i wont go back, there are way better sushi...
