We had never been here before and had never tried this place but we were hanging out with friends in the area over the weekend, were in the mood for Asian fusion food, and wanted something that would reheat well. It was cold and rainy and we were staying inside as a group hanging out, watching movies and playing games and we wanted food that we could pick at through out the day and feed about 6 people.
…And hand’s down this place gets 5 stars for exceeding our expectations ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Ambiance: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5 Stars) While we did not eat here and took the food to go, the restaurant seemed very clean and sanitary. There were large windows you could sit and eat by. The tables were all white and the walls were colorful. But there was no outdoor seating, however and the location was small.
Service: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5 Stars) The staff was all very nice, knowledgeable and helpful. They were recommending items as we ordered and answering our questions. They were hard working, taking orders and cleaning the entire time we were there. They brought out the food in about 20 minutes which was great for the amount of food we ordered. We waited outside and they called us in once our order was ready.
Food: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5 Stars) The food was sooooo good, we didn’t even get to take pictures because we dug right in. We ordered: an XL family meal (was not on paper menu at this location but can be found online) which came with 12 soy garlic wings (bone-in), 6 soy garlic drums, 2 orders of fries and plain fried rice. We also ordered 15 drum sticks, and a side order of kimchi, white rice, and kimchi coleslaw. Our group was mostly made up of people of color and there were signs all over the restaurant bragging about the chicken. This place is also a chain, and so of course we were hesitant about the quality of the food and wanted to judge this place for ourselves. But their double fried Korean style fried chicken gets our stamp of approval. It was crispy, crunchy and so flavorful. Everything else was good but the chicken was the star of the show. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it. It was mouthwatering and awoke all of your senses - yes it was that good!
Price: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5 Stars) We spent a little over $100 but we were buying food for 6-7 people, split between all of us that was about $10-$20 a person but we were all able to have seconds and even thirds. You definitely get your money’s worth...
Read moreI have a lot of concerns with regards to Bonchon. I really love your food especially chicken wings, but your service is so so so bad. I don't even know, not gonna lie how your nutley store is still surviving despite of how bad your service is.
I have been ordering a lot of times in your nutley store and due to that I learned to order way ahead of time. Order like an hr extra from your regular time of pick up, because then you arrived there at your specific time you really need to wait for a "long time" like at least another hr to get your order. I tolerate this action of the store because again, the food is good.
This time this happening really got me. You can see in the photo the date and time we ordered. Pick up time is 11:15 am and when we parked at the back the cooks are not even there yet, we saw it caused the back door is open. We went to the store, the first cashier — a lady who's look so stressed told us it gonna take more time cause the cooks are not there yet — so we waited for another hr and went back around 12:15 pm! Still the food is not yet ready and there's a new front cashier a guy. We ended up cancelling our order because I'm literally wasting a lot of time. He told me I'll get an email that my payment will be refunded it will take 3-5 business days he said, I said okay, and I'm patient about it. Last week I called and a lady answered, because it's been 7 business days and I haven't got any email that my payment is refunded. We talked and she checked my record she told me "My boss will refund it, again" so it will take another 3 business days, so I waited again. It's been another 5-7 business days and I haven't got any email about my payment being refunded. If you guys don't wanna give it back just tell me, you're wasting a lot of our time. I'm so disappointed about it. I know $37 is not a big money, but still money is a money, it's your customer money and it's your responsibility to give the best service. Don't run a food establishment if you don't know how to handle it properly.
Been tolerating the Bonchon nutley with the service you guys are giving. But this time, it's enough. This is my last time ordering here again. There are better places that I just found out and gives also quality and better services, and food...
Read moreUpdate - don’t bother leaving your info on their site as requested in their response to negative criticism. I did that within 24 hours of them asking to do so. That was almost 2 weeks ago. Never heard from anyone.
First- the place was filthy. More on that below.
The food was good, although it did take about 30 minutes for an order for two people. The girl working there was polite, and apologetic for the delay.
But the restaurant was filthy. Many rust stains on the tiles. The tables were dirty and stained. The pedestals of the tables were filthy. There was a liquid stain going down one wall. The foot of the sign in the eating area was nasty. There were some leaves tracked in (it’s fall after all) by the door. It would have taken 20 seconds to sweep up. Even that wasn’t done. That was minor compared to the rest of the dirty dining area, but it nevertheless reinforced that cleanliness is not important here. We contemplated canceling the order because we figured if that’s how dirty it is in front, what must the kitchen be like.
I read a review from 2 months ago with the same complaint. The owner responded saying they would address it. They didn’t. If this was my restaurant, I would be there all the time until this was resolved. And then, I’d be randomly dropping in outside of my regular hours at the business to make sure it didn’t regress.
I only recall one other customer come in while we were there. The girl at the cash was on her phone for periods of time while not busy. McDonald’s motto when I worked there was, “You have time to lean, you have time to clean.” She could have cleaned the table tops and chairs and swept the floors at minimum while being idle. That would have been a start (but that would have only scratched the surface of the deep cleaning needed).
