It hurts me to right a review like this because I support small businesses and smaller franchises but this needs to be said. This is the 2nd time I come to this place and leave disappointed. The first time I ordered a smoothie from here it was 1)watered down, it didn’t even have the consistency of what a smoothie should have and 2) flavorless. I ordered one of the tiki bowls and the “fresh” coconut tasted like freezer burn and it was pretty bland-the only good thing from that bowl was the franola and honey. I left out of there thinking I’d come back and it would be better-sadly it wasn’t. I once again place an order online for a smoothie and order a fruit bowl. I wait 20 minutes before I make my way to get my order, when I get there they tell me they just received my order and that they needed 5 more minutes. I wait in my car for another 10 minutes (figure I’d give them an extra 5 just incase)-I finally get my order and I immediately go for my smoothie and on my first sip i literally put it down because it was once again disappointing. It did not taste like pineapple or the mango but it did have a million pieces of coconut flakes and it was filled to the top in coconut milk and that is literally all I tasted. Just coconut milk. No fruit and it had the consistency of water. When I get my fruit bowl that i ordered (which mind you it said online a choice of 2 fruits but only allowed me pick one-i picked mango) i get this big bowl filled 1/4 of the way with literally 1/3 inch small mango pieces that cost me 5 dollars and tasted stale and hard as if they were in a freezer all day (freezer burn). Clearly there is nothing fresh sold here. Don’t waste your money here. I rather go to Rita’s across the street and get a smoothie there that is 100 times...
Read moreGood Afternoon,
I wanted to take a moment to share some feedback about my visit to Tiki Bowls today around 4:00 PM.
Firstly, I want to say that I really enjoy the healthy shakes and appreciate what your business offers. It's always great to see places promoting nutritious options in a fun, welcoming environment.
However, during my visit today, I noticed a few things that could use improvement. The air conditioning inside the shop seemed insufficient, and I genuinely felt for the staff who were working hard in those conditions. A more comfortable environment would surely benefit both your employees and customers.
More importantly, while placing my order, I overheard a conversation between staff members that felt inappropriate for a professional, public setting. One employee, in particular, was very vocal and loud about wanting to purchase marijuana, laughing openly about it with colleagues. Given that this is a family-friendly establishment, I was surprised and honestly a bit uncomfortable hearing that exchange, especially with other customers present.
I’m sure this doesn’t reflect the values of your business, and I understand that every workplace can have off moments. That said, I believe it might be helpful to remind staff about maintaining professionalism during shifts and being mindful of their conversations when customers are nearby.
Overall, the rest of the team has always been pleasant in past visits, and I appreciate their service. Today’s experience just felt a little off compared to the usual vibe I’ve come to enjoy.
I hope it’s received in the constructive spirit in which...
Read moreI usually don’t leave reviews, but I felt the need to share my experience because I was genuinely surprised when I opened my order. This was my second time visiting, and my go-to spot is typically Playa Bowls in East Rutherford. Unfortunately, I was really disappointed with the bowl I received today.
I ordered a pitaya bowl, but what I got looked and tasted completely different from what I expected. The consistency, color, and texture were nothing like the typical pitaya bowls I’ve had in the past—or even what shows up in a quick Google image search.
I called the store to confirm that I received the correct order, and the girl on the phone assured me it was a pitaya bowl. I tasted it, and it honestly felt more like a smoothie with strong flavors of banana and strawberry. She explained that the lighter color might be due to more banana and pineapple being used than dragonfruit, which she claimed is the usual blend.
If that’s the case and there’s no consistency in the preparation, I’d rather make the extra drive to Playa Bowls, where I know what I’m getting every time. While I didn’t have much interaction with the staff, overall I’m just really dissatisfied with what was supposed to be a...
