What a quaint bakery in North Shore. Reminds me of being in my childhood large eat in down home country kitchen in North Carolina watching my Mom make crust, homemade butter, breads and so forth...
The aroma was captivating in Hi Pie, took me to my childhood.
When i walked in, I saw on 1 counter the prepping of individual size pot pies with homemade pie crust and pie filling and on another counter a quiche that was being sliced. In the small showcase there was a PINEAPPLE CREAM PIE, carrot sheet like cake with lil coconut on top, blueberry cheesecake and a few other things. I was extremely surprised and full of smiles. Just a really feel good and clean place. The lady who helped me was wonderful and appeared to be kind.... again adding to the atmosphere of my childhood and happy place. I ordered a slice of PINEAPPLE CREAM PIE and a chicken pot pie.
I was so in the atmosphere of Hi Pie that i forgot to take pictures. When i tell you this place reminded me of being in our country kitchen full of everything homemade and happy!!! Hi Pie is the place!
PINEAPPLE CREAM pie: umh umh umh... delicious just simply delicious. The slice was overly generous, the taste was outstandingly amazing. The crust is beautifully buttery without being a mouth full of oils... the cream is fluffy and leaves a toasty pineapple taste that makes you smack your lips. (Only have picture of the pie after i ate 2/3s) Individual size chicken pot pie: heated it up for 20mins on 350. My hubby loved it. He said the crust was flakey and flavorful. The pie filling was seasoned well and yummy. (Only have picture of the uncooked pot pie because my hubby started eating before i could take pictures).
I belv Hi Pie is now my favorite bakery in Oahu!
A must visit for every...
Read moreI heard about this place from a food blogger on instagram and was excited to give it a try. First time I walked in I waited for someone to help me and it seemed that there was an owner or manager training the employees on baking. She seemed like she was getting very impatient with them and being kind of condescending and the employees seemed to be a bit on edge. It made for a weird vibe. When someone did help me I got a slice of pineapple cream pie, which was one of the best cream pies I’ve ever had (5 stars for the pineapple pie) and I also ordered a slice of bacon tomato quiche. The quiche in contrast was one of the worst quiches I’ve ever tried. It had maybe two tiny pieces of bacon in the whole thing but not much else. It was more like a plain slice of gelatinous egg jello. The second time we came we just wanted a slice of pineapple pie, but the register was down and the girls that were working seemed to not want to help the girl that was trying to ring us up, so we just ended up leaving without the pie. Tech problems happen for sure, but it seemed like there was some weird animosity between the employees and they didn’t want to help each other out even though it wasn’t busy when we went in. Strange vibes and quiche but really good...
Read moreUpdated review: I finally had the opportunity to check out the new location for HI Pie Bakery and it was an amazingly delightful experience! Casey continues to absolutely kill it with her masterful and delicious creations. We had a slice of almond cake, carrot cake, poi banana bread, and a crustless quiche. We also took home a couple of bake at home chicken pot pies and loaves of poi banana bread.
The new space is so welcoming and has seating inside and outside. Lots of parking in the back of the store front and a clean restroom is available too. I look forward to visiting this new space and enjoying Casey’s creations. You have to check it out! You won’t be disappointed at all!
Previous review: I’ve been enjoying Casey’s banana poi bread for a couple of years. I have been wanting to visit her brick and mortar shop now for some time and I’m so glad I had a chance to do so! Not only was I able to stock up on a couple of loaves of banana poi bread but I also got a scone and pot pie. Everything was just absolutely delicious. Casey seems so passionate about their baking and you can definitely taste that in every bite. This was definitely worth the drive from...
