My family lives on Oahu and we are all Hono shrimp fans. We have tried both Giovanni and Honos over the span of years. The Honos flavor is better, the shrimp is better, and the cabbage is great. We’ve frequented for years and go to Honos and recommend this shrimp truck every time we have guests.

I’ve seen her lay down the law by reminding folks who order food at a different food truck that try sit at hono tables (there are signs that say Honos tables) that it’s for hono shrimp customers. It’s a hard job (I bet some folks who didn’t even eat here write a review solely because of it) however, I appreciate it. We typically have no problem finding a seat at honos given our ratio of visits. Obviously there are occasionally some busy days. Anyway, I’ve tried all the stuff on the menu, I still prefer the garlic shrimp and I sometimes get double cabbage instead of two scoops of rice and one side of cabbage. My friends or visitors sometimes like the spicy shrimp, however, to me it’s too sweet, spicy and tangy at the same time for my taste. The kalbi is also good for non shrimp lovers. Adding extra shrimp is also pretty reasonably priced especially if you want to...

RUDE SERVICE! RUDE SERVICE! RUDE SERVICE! RUDE SERVICE! RUDE SERVICE! RUDE SERVICE! RUDE SERVICE! RUDE SERVICE! RUDE SERVICE!

  1. Service There was no line whenever I get there (Many ppl was in line on Giovanni's). Cashier lady was watching or typing on phone. When I said hello to her, no greeting. Once she completed what she did, I asked her for Spicy shrimp. But still no greeting. Dont be expect to much from this truck

  2. Food I had Spicy garlic shrimp. The food was great. But only thing I can remember is now the POOR SERVICE. I also had scampi from Giovanni's and there service is even betther and well prepared. I rather to get more food from the Giovanni's

  3. Atmosphere As it located in food truck court area, you will see many visitors out there. Due to that you should expect the traffic, and the location has limited parking slots. Other than that, good environment to...

One of the worst servers I have ever met. The lady seemed upset to be there. No smile. Very curt answers with rude attitude. It wasn’t just towards me but all other customers that I have observed while I was there. When she was handing me my plate, one of the forks fell on the ground. I asked for an extra folk but she gave me this angry look and says “we only serve 2 forks per plate.” With an attitude. No room for negotiation. In the mean time, the fruit truck right across offered us as many forks as we want when we bought their fruit. They did not offer napkins. We threw away our dishes in their trash can and they stopped us fr throwing out our soda bottles because we didn’t buy the soda from their store. Their food was decent… but nothing to rave about. I wouldn’t go back to this store again and wouldn’t recommend to anyone else for their plain rude attitude towards...

If you are curious about my review of the Giovanni's shrimp truck, just look up my review, their truck is literally next to it. Been to Giovanni's like a couple of days before I visited this truck and been to Giovanni's truck. Some may say the it's more pricey than the Giovanni's, however, I noticed the quality is definitely different and it's more tasty. The shrimp here is definitely more fresh and plumper and coming from an Asian person, the rice is so much better here and not overcooked and the food here is not too oily. We got the spicy and the non-spicy, but if you aren't so good with the spicy, I recommend getting the regular/original butter garlic. Also they cut the shrimp the way it's easier for you to peel the skin off.

06/25/2023: we drove all the way from Waikiki to actually try Giovanni's (in the same plaza). Unfortunately, they weren't open when we arrived. The woman who took our parking fees recommended Honos because they served similar foods to Giovanni's. The wait was excruciating long. There were only 2 people working, I believe, so if you came at around noon like we did, be expected to wait an hour or longer for your food. We got the garlic shrimp & Kalbi bbq to tasted. The shrimp was delicious, perfectly cooked, and fresh. The bbq meats were seasoned very well, too. Overall, the food was good, but because of the long wait, paid parking, and inconvenience of the location, it's just not worth the hassle to come back.

Unlike Giovanni’s, there’s no wait to order, but food still takes some time to come out (we waited 30 minutes). Ordered the garlic shrimp. It was okay. We went around 2:00 PM and they were out of kalbi, make sure you go earlier if you want some. By the time we finished eating, we noticed that people from the back of the Giovanni’s line were only about halfway there. Not a bad alternative if you’re getting hangry. If the parking lot is full (they charge $1 to park in the shrimp trucks lot), go a bit further down the block and park in the parking lot at the Waialua Community Association building. We parked here on a Sunday so be sure to check the weekday parking rules.
