Ordered/requested quote: 28 Nov 2022 Confirmation/payment: 29 Nov 2022 Pick up: 2 Dec 2022
Cake details: Cake (Medium 15-20 Servings ) 8” Round - Chocolate Cake Filling: Vanilla Buttercream Covering: Vanilla Buttercream
This cake, for me, was a last-minute thought. So, after the baker I usually used informed me that she was booked, I started to frantically search my trusty Yelp app and Google for bakers late Monday evening (28 November 2022). Luckily, I came across Oahu Cakes!!
I was skeptical of the short notice, getting what I wanted, the price, and the taste. Well, I am happy to inform you that I was not disappointed with any of my desires.
Submitting a quote was easy and straightforward. The online submission form made the step by step process easy. I selected the flavor I wanted, the size, the theme, the pick up date (this is based on a pop up availability calender on te site), and any additional notes to get an accurate quote. And I was able to submit a picture of something similar to what I wanted. I had to submit my request for a quote on Oahu Cakes website (I couldn't find a direct contact via Yelp). But once I submitted it, I received a copy of my request to my email.
Since it was late Monday evening, I impatiently checked my email every few minutes the following day (Tuesday). I finally got a text message late Tuesday morning from someone who identified themselves as Ashli from the bakery. (Honestly, I was a bit skeptical because I automatically thought scam... since it's the holiday season, increased vigilance is necessary).
Anyway, Ashli's text had a copy of my quote and asked that I confirm accuracy. If everything was accurate, she asked that I use the provided link to make a deposit to solidify my order (another reason I thought scam...hey, you can't be too cautious!!). The link looked legitimate, so I proceeded and made my payment.
Thursday (1 December 2022 at 1231pm), I had not received any updates, so I sent a text to the same number confirming my pick-up time. Guys, there was no response to my text all day, so again, I think, SCAM. Lmao. Yes - I was catastrophizing!! I went on the website, checked the business number, and of course, it did not match the one I received the text from. However, the guy who answered was able to confirm that the cake was baked. They just needed to put the finishing touches, but I was good to pick up at my requested time. Whew!
Friday morning, I received a picture message of the cake from Ashli. It was beautiful!!
I transported the cake to my event and that was that. Not only did it look amazing, but it also tasted great. It was chocolate with unexpected but pleasantly surprising chunks of chocolate. Yummy. I was also surprised that the cake was bigger than I expected and had 3 layers!! I wished I had taken a pick showing the inside while it was cut, but I was too busy enjoying it.
Although I was skeptical, I was blown away and would highly recommend Oahu Cakes for your specialty cakes. My mother is a huge cake skeptic, and even she...
Read moreI paid 110 dollars for a smash cake for my baby’s 1st Birthday and ordered an exact replica of a cake they already did, so I figured it wasn’t anything complicated since they already designed and made the cake for another customer. On delivery day, I was told delivery would be between 11-2 and that really surprised me. We ended up not being able to go to a beach on our last vacation day because we had no choice but to wait around for the cake. They said Aulani the Disney Resort had Covid restrictions and they could not bring the cake inside, but we saw other cakes coming in and we also had flowers delivered. Bell services also held groceries we came with. So we lost a whole day almost of beach time just waiting around for the cake. I can see one hour, but three is ridiculous. I had to sit around the pool checking my phone every 10 minutes for three hours. After almost three hours passed and I didn’t hear, I finally had to reach out to them. At 1:45 I messaged them wondering about the cake and they said they were just about to contact me. The cake arrived at 2:10 and it was not the cake I even ordered. The colors were dull, it had a big brown plaque with hard to see wording. It looked nothing like the cake I thought was coming. They also did not put the special lilikoi filling in it like I ordered. It was a basic vanilla cake. All that waiting and then the huge disappointment. There was a plastic tree on the cake and images printed which is not what I wanted at all. Had I known I would have just bought the cute little Moana cupcake for 15 bucks at the resort and called it a day. My kids missed snorkeling because their wait time was mid day and way too long. By the time the cake got there which was past the three hours they said it was almost too late to venture out. By the time we went anywhere the sun would be going down. It was a bad experience and obviously will not be ordering again. Cake on the left is what I ordered that they made themselves. Cake on the right is what we got after waiting far too long for. Overall the cake was lifeless and boring for a baby girl. It also didn’t really match her dress which I planned based on the original cake. The plastic trees blew off as well right when we took the cake out so w roost those immediately. I will not trust this bakery again with a special memory.
Update: They told me via text I’d be refunded for the cake and never...
Read moreI ordered a birthday cake and cookies from Oahu Bakes & Brew (Oahu Cakes). Despite it being a last-minute order, they delivered everything ahead of time. The cake was not only beautiful, but also delicious. They even created a customized banner with the name on it. The cake looked even better than the picture I had sent them for inspiration. Their customer service is truly exceptional. They exceeded my expectations in every way. I will definitely be using their services again, and I highly recommend that you give...
