Sushi Spot is one of my favorite places to eat across 35 countries! It has a cozy homelike atmosphere, the staff is incredible, and the food comes out fast. They open with a complementary miso soup that is very tasty, we ordered the chicken mandoo, which was an incredible chicken dumpling, so good. I had the salmon nigiri, and the fish was the freshest and smoothest I have had in Hawaii, simply awesome. The Philadelphia roll was a smoked salmon masterpiece and I'm glad we ordered it. I love the stuffed jalapeno roll; light tempura, intermittent kick, great texture and flavor. It's absolutely delicious to the point that I have to share it, but regret not selfishly hoarding it for myself! I order it EVERY TIME. I had hot green tea with my meal, and it was the perfect accompaniment. I firmly recommend the deep fried oreos, 6 for 7.99 is a steal! I have had to pay an arm and a leg for one at the state fair, it was way better here! They are made perfectly and I had to go take a nap after my visit because I was so full and happy. Service felt like family and were so welcoming that I felt they've known me for years. I wish I could bring my parents here. Everyone I bring now, becomes a repeat customer. I love Sushi Spot! I come here often. Thank you for a wonderful...
Read moreEdit to add: This place has started to slowly go down hill sadly. Something has changed in the last few months, I think different there’s different chefs? But the rolls have become sloppy and not as tasty. The rolls fall apart the moment you pick them up. One of my rolls tonight had nothing but a shrimp tail in it, no meat at all!! The service has been pretty bad lately, the blonde waitress who works there now is absolutely terrible. She ignores you, never brings you water or anything until you ask, and you have to chase her down for anything. I hope something changes soon, we were regulars and now considering finding a new sushi place to go to.
Original post: The sushi was amazing, probably the best we’ve ever had. The restaurant itself is cozy and the staff was friendly. We will be back and...
Read moreI love restaurants that are gems hidden in unexpected places. My coworkers introduced me to Sushi Spot, tucked below a busy Aiea intersection in a business and retail complex that seems to struggle to hold onto tenants. But this place has stuck around for good reason. Fresh, tasty, good looking sushi, with many one-of-a-kind menu items, at a reasonable price.
There can be a long wait to get one of the few tables inside, and there will definitely be a wait to get your food. But you can BYOB, and with the right company, the conversation and laughs will flow freely while the sushi chefs do their thing. Service is efficient, if not exactly warm and fuzzy, but if you're hungry, you'll be happy to see them...
