Read moreSo I kept hearing recommendations for the spot in Kailua and I finally went to go check it out.
I only wanted a light lunch so I didn't get a lot of food I only got the burnt pork belly and smoked mac and cheese.
It was a little confusing because they have a dining room but they also have a outside window where you can place orders and pick up.
After I finally figured out how to place my order I walked up to the window and I ordered my food which was relatively easy and after I ordered I was prompted to pay and also of course as usual prompt it for tip.
I really wish businesses would get away from asking for tips for carryout but oh well I guess that's the sign of the times. By the way I was literally the only customer at the time and it still took about 10 minutes to get my food which I thought was a little slow. I'd be curious to see how fast they are when they actually have a restaurant full of customers.
Anyway back to the food review. The pork belly was actually pretty good It was a little sweet as it was covered in sauce already but it was nice smokey taste. I can't remember the price but I believe it was around 10.40. The mac and cheese was also pretty good to my surprise however I don't like that crust or breadcrumbs what it is they sprinkle on top I'd rather have melted or crusted cheese on top. Overall the experience was good.
I let one of my co-workers taste the pork belly and she immediately spit it out and said it made her mouth feel weird. She has a shellfish allergy. So it made me wonder if there's any type of shellfish or seafood somehow mixed in with the sauce or the meat?
Anyway while I was waiting I checked out the prices of the other food and it actually wasn't that bad. I plan to go back next week and try the brisket fingers crossed.
Overall I say the food's pretty good so far and I recommend that you...
Read moreIt's a long read but a good one -
Have you even been to a business where it seems like the employees just don't want to be there? Well, that's exactly how it was here. At first, I thought it was only the cashier who had zero personality, but nope, even the guy that brought the food to the window was no personality. Not even a thank you of go "F" yourself. When he gave the food over, he just gave it to me. I thanked him and wished him a good evening.. He turns around and just walks away. Being a business owner and seeing how your employees treat customers it shameful. Makes you wonder why that other BBQ restaurant is packed and you had no one at your place? Just always remember there's other BBQ places right down the street.
Now the food - I decided on the two choice plate. Had the Brisket, which was so daym tender and moist. Also had their chicken, which was very moist and flavorful. Their Coleslaw was on point, and the Mac N Cheese was ok. Chowchow, pickled onion, and Lilikoi sauce were perfect.
They item that stole the show was their Pork Belly burnt ends. I don't know what TF that sauce is, but it's the winner. Daym good job. Will I be back? I mean the food was good but that customer service was HORRIBLE. I've been in the customer service industry for over 25 years, and feel free to contact me as I would like to offer my services to...
