I would give more stars for our server(she was great) and the food(was good and generous portions) BUT they need to do some SERIOUS cleaning of the floors! As my husband and I waited we noticed a table that seated 6 was clean on the top but they NEVER SWEPT after the last patrons left. Straws, napkins and spilled food around the chairs and under the table. My husband said as we walked into and from out table how the floor was filthy and didn't look like it had been mopped in a long time. No one came around with a manual carpet sweeper, the carpet in our area was so dirty! I said if the floors look like this what does the kitchen look like? Another big thing was as we were eating we kept hearing what sounded like someone dropping plates. It actually startled you it was so loud! My husband looked and said it's the male server taking the dishes from the table and he said LITERALLY THROWING THEM into the buckets that was sitting in the eating area. It was a cart that held 3 rectangle size buckets for dirty dishes. Well isn't that just appealing! It was so annoying to hear him constantly THROWING the dishes! We will not be back as this whole experience was horrible! I sure hope the owner or the manager reads this and does something about this. I have a suggestion, take the dirty dishes and take them to the kitchen. What an UNPLEASANT experience! Seeing how filthy the floor was turned our stomachs! If you want to keep customers then here's a simple idea CLEAN...
Read moreWe decided to give Riverside another try as it was a Sunday afternoon and that usually means most of our favorite places are packed with screaming children and we were not up for that.
The restaurant did have most of the side wall seated with patrons, but the service was quick, friendly, and attentive. Ambience was quiet. I ordered a French Slam (French toast, choice of meat, eggs) and some American fries, and my guests had some Beef Vegetable soup and an order of biscuits and gravy. Everyone was pleased with their food. My American fries were nice and crispy. The soup was tasty and not too salty (this was the one redeeming factor from our first visit, too: good soup). It was all very reasonably priced and I had leftovers.
On the downside, the AC was blowing on our table causing the blinds and cobwebs in the windows to sway. To be fair, though, we did not ask to move. I really wish they’d use or remove the pie counter at the entrance - it’s so depressing looking at the empty display cabinet when you first come in. I’d imagine that money is/was tight opening during the pandemic, so certain renovations of improvements may be held back to keep menu prices down.
I didn’t take any pictures, but I plan to eat here again if I’m looking for diner food at a decent price. Maybe next time I’ll make it in a bit earlier so I can try their Cream of Chicken with Rice soup (my favorite from a diner I frequented in my childhood) before...
Read moreIt's a casual family restaurant, with bright, open spaces, located in the old Perkin's spot. No feeling of crowding, and the space was broken up nicely with partial walls and plants that kept sound from traveling and reverberating off the walls.
Tina was our server and she was very sweet and helpful. At one point I let "her" know we were not going to wait for our 7th person and "she" gave me a really strange look. Turns out I told the WRONG employee. Face palm. They both had beautiful, long, dark hair pulled back in ponytails that I mistook one for the other. What a dolt. I apologized and we chuckled it off, but it still gives me bad feelings.
The food is delicious. We love brunch. We had a number of omelets, pancakes, and skillets ordered. I started with the Creamy Chicken and Rice Soup, and then had the Combo Skillet with Toast. The soup is SO good. I am a HUGE fan of creamy soups. The skillet was equally delicious - though I took half of it home and am having it for lunch today. Everyone really liked their selections. Not a complaint in the group. Note that most of the menu pics on Google are old. The current menu is one large sheet with breakfast on one side and lunch on the other.
We will...
