I love Island Jo! Oak Island's hidden gem. I have been coming for decades and visiting the island, and now having moved to Oak Island about 2yrs ago, its disappointing that I only just learned about Island Jo about 2 mo's ago. If it weren't for Tricia coming to work at solar and recommending it, we never would have known. Based on the fact that they are generally busy which is a good sign but they are one of maybe 2 coffee shops on the island as well and I don't generally do coffee so why go to Island Jo Was my mentality. Boy was I missing out.
Everything I've tried from this place is awesome, from drinks to sandwiches and breakfast sandwiches and bagels and sweets and the side orders and the clam chowder and the mud pie and the key lime pie. All home made I believe. It's really a gem that I am glad I know is there right by my work. Even when they are slammed the orders come out quickly and always with a smile and genuinely friendly demeanor of everyone who works there. Mmmm I'm dreaming of the clam chowder rn actually and I had a Reuben yesterday which I'm going to go ahead and tell you is the best Reuben you will find around oak island imo.
Don't miss out, go give it a try. You won't be...
Read moreMust visit this quaint, unique, and most importantly "tasty " establishment. I LOVE breakfast, and this is the place I routinely stop in for breakfast, whether "on the go" or to bring a yummy "sit down" with out of town family and friends. My "go to" is the bacon, egg, and cheese on the delicious everything bagel. My dad is a fan of all the housemade quiches served with fruit, which they offer a variety of. Mom loves ALL the bagels, but adores the everything bagel toasted with cream cheese. Coffee here, is also perfect... and this is coming from a daughter who's father specially orders beans and roasts and grinds them lol. This is the only place he will drink coffee other than home. Scrumptious pastries and cakes here are also homemade! Customer service is spot on. Owner seems to be extremely attentive, genuinely concerned, and caring regarding the service rendered to each guest. Check this place out, you will be missing out if you don't. They also serve lunch which I'm excited to try as well! I'm waiting for opening as of now, being I have family in town! 😀... Check this place out if you...
Read moreI decided to try Island Jo Coffee & Cafe based on it’s rating. It is a very good place to get a cup of coffee and a bagel. I ordered the sausage egg and cheese on a onion bagel and it hit the spot. I ordered a house coffee and it was good but not great. It was pretty busy at 8:15 when they opened and most people are ordering the fancy coffee drinks which is not something I care for. Considering how many people were ahead of me I don’t think it was too bad of wait considering. The cashier was very polite and friendly. I tried to pay for my order with the $50 bill, and when she open the drawer, they had no money but change so if you plan on paying in cash, I suggest you take small bills. There were 3 tables inside, 6 tables outside and 2 picnic tables in a grassy area. Most people were taking their food to go so there should never be a problem with...
