Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Oak Park Heights

Normally this place has really good service, this time it was far from the case. For starters, I walked into the lobby, there was no one there to greet us. I looked around the the restaurant and it was only about quarter full. There was a manager and three other employees standing in a circle talking. After 3 minutes or so oftening there at the bartender told us that someone would be right with us. We stood there for 5 more minutes before being greeted and seated. Once we were seated the instant we sat down. It felt like we sat in a refrigerator. I asked to be moved. The only place offered was the table next to it. Which was a little warmer for a bit but as time went on me and my son were both freezing. I again asked to be moved or for the temperature to be changed. The server said that they would be right back and left us there. The server disappeared and we sat there for another 3 or 4 minutes. By this time my son was shivering so bad his teeth were chattering. I took it upon ourselves too move ourselves to the bar. Was much better there. After a couple more minutes the server came out and said that the manager turned the heat up in that area. By that time it was too late. We had moved. The food that's a whole nother story. My son's plate. He ordered mac and cheese and chicken strips. He got pasta noodles with a little cheese drizzled over and chicken strips. Kids know their mac and cheese, especially this one. He was far from impressed and only ate about a quarter of it. I had ordered a steak with sauteed onions and mushrooms, cooked medium and potatoes and green beans. The steak was cooked medium rare. It was very pink with blood but tasted decent. Potatoes came with no butter, green beans, were as soft as my mashed potatoes. We couldn't get the attention of a server again for 10 minutes as we were then halfway through our meal. I finally got to at least ask for butter but it was too late. It wouldn't even melt into my potatoes.. All sudden done with appetizers, our meal and drinks. We had a 70 dollar tab.I honestly think I would have had a better meal and only spent about $20 at McDonald's and I'm not a fan of McDonald's. I understand it was a holiday weekend but when I look around and see staff conversing with each other and not paying attention to their customers or responding to their customer needs I don't feel that there's much of an excuse, especially when the manager...

I just ordered takeout from here 4-28-18 around 1020 pm and in the process of receiving my food soon. I’m assuming Rebecca took my order over the phone. She wasn’t too thrilled to take my order, but prob cuz it’s a bit busy but not hectic. She said my food would be done by 1035, and i arrived at 1047-50pm due to me being in Cottage grove and having to drive all this way to get my food and the food still wasn’t done. You would think you would see your take out food right on the counter in a bag all ready to go but NOT FOR ME!!!!! Sigh, this is the first and last time I order take out from here. Rebecca didn’t even offer me water while I was waiting, so a BIG TURN OFF for me 😡😩. Oh yeah and if it’s after 9 pm you have to come in and get your order instead of them delivering it to your car because of the whole safety employee issue which is whatever. Sorry for this being long I’m just tired. I finally got my food at 1104, so waiting for almost 20 mins should be worth it and it was.....kinda. But still never again will I order takeout at this place because of Rebecca. I will stick to cottage Grove from now on. Come on management don’t make me wait longer for my food next time when I arrive to PICK UP. I EXPECT TO SEE IT ON THE COUNTER NEXT TIME if I ever decide to come back here, plz and thanks

Edit: by the way if you have to make us wait longer for our food even Though it might be done already at least offer us water in case we are parched. Thanks I hope this gets...

Don't eat the chips and salsa. Super salty x10 somuch still have salt taste in my mouth the next day along with a headache.it was realy runny so I scooped from the bottom...big mistake I know now again why we don't go to applebee's. I only hope that it's just like that and not because I had a Pony card from the high school. After we got our food they ask every 60 seconds how is everything just waiting for a complaint not every one has starting eating cause it's so damn hot and I guess salty as salt it's self. Next time I'm going to break it all down for them on the 5th time I'm asked how my food is. Well the chicken Patty is way too big for the bun the bun is way too soft for all the juices in there so the bottom of the bunch just turns into mush and the breading on the chicken isn't even good I should have got the grilled chicken The smoothies ice's we got were so sweet my kids didn't even finish half and eveyone is Thirsty. I think we must have drank like 3 glasses of water each while we were eating. I'm guessing from a really high salt intake from something I think it's the salsa. Very amiture restaurant. I haven't been to a Applebee's in so long because my wife will not go I had to ask my kids my 14 year old has ben there once. So the second time in 14 years and some how it still sucks in a way you don't notice till it's to late. Whats the deal how can a restaurant stay open that long and just not be that good. There are plenty of good places to eat right here in town I hope I don't come back ever again...
