Where to start………? At first glance entering the main lobby, on the surface, all appears clean, the breakfast area was kept tidy, BUT, the breakfast isn’t worth mentioning, seriously don’t waste your time. The gal at the front desk was friendly and willing to assist.
The main problem is housekeeping. My husband and I paid full rate pricing plus paid an extra fee to accommodate our non shedding 12 lb dog. Only certain rooms are available for dog visits, that’s understandable. Yet, we pay the same price as any other guest, plus a pet fee, with no choice of room location. I would expect the room assigned to our visit to be clean and ready for our arrival. This is not an unreasonable expectation. No matter how many stars a hotel is rated, they should all be clean, management is responsible to make sure this is done, don’t blame it on the employees alone. Management can’t pass off the responsibility of providing a clean, safe facility for their paying guests.
Upon our arrival our assigned room was dusty, mirrors un cleaned, grime on the showers wall, the refrigerator, microwave and tv screen were soiled. Window treatments were full of holes. Night stand drawer and the bottom of the wardrobe cabinet were soiled as well. Because housekeeping was no longer on site, the gal at the front desk kindly cleaned our refrigerator, microwave and tv screen dirtied by globs of something. I inquired why the room had not been properly cleaned. She stated it gets cleaned after each visit and maybe had not been assigned to a guest recently. I inquired if there was a clean dog friendly room available, but received no response. We made the best of our two night stay. Upon retuning to our room on day two, after housekeeping had a second chance of cleaning our room, they failed, furniture had not been wiped down, dust and marks still remained, bathroom mirror and shower wall still soiled, cups and bag for ice bucket were not replenished. A subpar vacuuming was done, towels were replaced and beds were made. Just to note, we made sure our personal items were packed away to allow for easy cleaning of the surfaces in the room. A second, important concern to mention is the secondary entrance/exit at the far end of the building, the type of door requiring the key card of a paying guest, a security feature to enter the building. It did not lock, no key card needed to enter.
Shame on AmericInn Stillwater by Wyndham, this place is an embarrassment to the name brand. When available, the Americinn brand has been my choice of hotels, this was my worst hotel experience ever. Don’t waste your money here, you can do much better. This place falls short of cleanliness, obviously nothing had been learned from the...
Read moreTo start off, it was hard to find this hotel, both my GPS and my Dad's GPS (who drove separately but stayed at same hotel) were directed to different areas not near this hotel when we put the address from the website for this hotel into our GPS devices. ||||The room was okay, it had what we needed and seemed clean. There is no elevator for the second floor, so just prepare for that if you have a lot of bags. We had 5 people plus my dad in another room so it was a lot of bags to lug up the stairs, and since 3 of the people were kids, that was a little challenging. ||||There was no vending on the 2nd floor, and there is no gym or even a water bottle filling station or drinking fountain. There is one ice machine on the first floor and vending there to purchase water. They had a decanter of water out by where the breakfast is served but it was not filtered drinking water and tasted off. ||||The breakfast had no variety over our stay and was lackluster. The sausage was really low quality and did not have good flavor, the eggs were bland and barely tasted like eggs. I never have high standards for this kind of hotel, but usually we can find someone for everyone at a hotel like this and don't need to get breakfast elsewhere, that was not the case here. We got breakfast the 2nd day after seeing it was the exact same spread again. ||||They did not have a fully stocked towel area by the pool. Both times we went to the pool there was 1 towel left. We had to ask for them to refill the towels, which they sort of did, bringing like 10 towels which which basically went down to just 4 towels after our group was done with them. They also asked that you leave the towels down there, which is weird because then you are dripping wet through the hotel. They have the cliche hotel pool towel blue stripe so they could easily be returned to the pool after a stay when they do laundry-- I don't recall having to leave my towel down there in any other hotel I have stayed at before this one. ||||Positives: The pool and hot tub are a good size and temperature. Location is near lots of things and close enough to downtown Stillwater to get there pretty quickly. Clean...
Read moreAn overnight or a few days and you might not notice the dust blowing out of the heaters or the mold or the drains backing up. When you stay longer you start to notice things like incompetent staff, dog poop everywhere and a maintenance man they pay to lounge in the lobby 5 days a week eating continental breakfast and reading the paper. You might not notice things like the food handling of the continental breakfast, stay away from the eggs. The waffle irons leave Teflon on your waffles sometimes, just pay attention. If you have diarrhea the next day it's probably a better idea to hit up Perkins. The headboard fell apart while we were sleeping. Nicole, the head housekeeper is amazing and deserves a job where she is appreciated. The front desk double charged my account last week and a couple weeks ago it took 7 days to process. Nobody knows how to use the new computer system. I graciously and patiently worked through their screw ups. BUT, this morning, instead of customer servicing an overbooked hotel. They told me at the very last minute that I was checking out and said the police were on the way. Who does That? So, post surgical, with a disabled spouse and 15 year old daughter, I gave them no problem what so ever, leaving their establishment. Nick is completely incompetent and Alex is rude. The owner is very nice but still allowed his staff to treat my Family like criminals without ever letting me know that they were overbooked. We could have worked through this. But the staff lacks management skills and panicked before there even ever was a problem. It's a low rent establishment, just beware of the possibilities, because when it comes down to it the staff is going to hide their mistake and leave you in the lurch, post surgical or not. Without so much as an apology. I will not be returning. The pool is cold anyways. And the fire alarm goes off frequently, they should have that checked too. Update ~ The next day I called Wyndahm and received a call from the owner apologizing. His staff told him that they offered me a single w/ a cot but my credit card was declined. Which absolutely never happened. So glad the hotel across the highway had...
