First time here. Mildly busy. (Sunday night, trivia was going on).
I have a gluten allergy. It's not a deathly allergy, I won't die on mild exposure. I try to avoid it though because I get uncomfortable hives and deal with a bad stomach ache.
We ordered a burger with a gluten free bun. We informed the waitress. She didn't ask questions, said we were fine. She didn't ask how we wanted our burgers done... Interesting.
So keep that in mind.
We watch a waiter take an order from another table.
Our waitress got us our drinks and then disappeared for a pretty extensive period of time.
Eventually, a member of the cook staff brought us our appetizer. We asked for a drink refill and he took care of it.
We watch the cook staff bring food to the other table. We watch the waiter for that table check on the table.
Still no waitress.
The same cook staff member appeared a while later with our order. When asked, he refilled another drink, no questions asked.
Still no waitress.
The other waiter checks on the other table.
Now we see that what's on the burger is an ingredient that may contain gluten (fried onion slivers, not just onion slivers). My burger is well done. Another plate at our table had medium well, another had medium. Thanks, I guess. We would have ordered it differently.
Still no waitress.
I scrape off the onion slivers. I eat.
Cook staff stops to check on us on his way back to the kitchen from delivering someone else's food.
Waitress finally appears to check on us. At this point, what's it matter what our experience was like, she's been gone for most of it.
I would have gladly tipped the cook staff well. I wish I could have. Best service I had in the establishment.
Waitress... Not sure where she went or what she was doing. She was outshined by the people in the kitchen. Maybe they should be asked if they'd like to serve, they'd make a killing in tips.
By the time I got home, hives. I know what to do but I'm not happy about the service around it. What's the point of letting staff know about a food allergy and having...
Read moreHad one of the worst experiences tonight at this restaurant. We arrived and waited about 10 minutes to have a server stop by. Once we were finally able to order food we ordered and after around 45 minutes and several tables that had been seated and ate before us someone stopped by our table to ask if we got our food yet. We said no. After another 10 minutes I finally had to take my 3 year old on a walk as she was not being as patient as ourselves. WE decided after another 5 minutes we were going to just take our food and go as this was far past the window a toddler was giving us to be out at a restaurant. The order did finally come out a few minutes later and 3/4's of the meal was wrong. We let them know we were just boxing and leaving. Another table near us had a manger stop out to work on some concerns for them and after we sent the bill back three times to have it changed to what we were given so we weren't over charged I left to bring my daughter home. No comp, no continued checking to see if we needed drinks or anything just silence and avoidance. No Manger stopping by to at least ensure that we were heard, it was as if they wanted us to just leave so they could try again at another table.
This will be the last time I bring my family here. I know that times are tough for this industry but there were specific things that could have been done to at least ensure we were being attended to. No waters/drink refills. No check in other than a food runner asking if we received food.
I cant blame the waitress on this one completely she appeared to be the only one working tonight, on Fathers day, a pretty busy night.
Please avoid if you have small children or don't have the luxury of time to sit and wait and to double check your order...
Read more1 star for the pizza. 5 stars for the burgers and curds.
If you're going to dine with intent on a great delicious burger then this is your place to stop and give it a shop. We had the yum yum burger and the breakfast egg, tater tot and bacon burger. With seasoned sour cream, waffle and normal fries. Both are equally delicious. If you're used to the Tavern seasoned sour cream you'll agree this version isn't quite on par but still good.
The garlic cheese curds come in squares and are very delightful.
My issue with the pizza is as such. The pizzas are buy one get one free with them being $17 for cheese, $20 for pepperoni, $25 for supreme. I should have suspected at a buy one get one free something was suspicious but being a pizza lover as well I had to see if this was a hell of a hidden deal and gem. I ordered them to go along with our meals so they came boxed up.
Well on the menu it states they are handmade crusts. This is a lie and not true and you'll see it yourself if you unfortunately decide to go ahead and order them yourself. I'd take a Walmart Jack's pizza over the taste of this. Disappointing spending $20 on pizza that has no handmade crust or flavor. I've seen these exact type of pizzas before at gas stations but this tasted even less appetising. I took a single bite and that was it. We paid our bill and tipped but I left both pizzas in the boxes on the table. Didn't even want to take home to throw away.
Unfortunate.
As I said burgers are great. The pizza stay far away from. Misleading advertising and absolutely unedible. Maybe if you were drunk you'd enjoy it but even then...
