A group of five, including myself, were seated and given 2 trays of chips and 3 small bowls of salsa which lasted all of 10(?) minutes. We were ignored for about 20-30 minutes and watched as tables slowly filled up around us and were being waited on before us as well. There was no drinks menu and no specials menu on any of the free standing tables around our area, they were only able to be found on the booths. We looked over the menu and, although originally thinking myself and another would split one plate, we decided to get two separate plates (one dish being from the specials menu we had to grab from a nearby booth.) This turned out to be an incredibly bad decision.
Once we received our food, it was abundantly clear how badly we had messed up in our decision to come here. The 2 pork belly enchilada specials our table ordered were tiny, even while being what I'm pretty sure was the most expensive thing on the bill. The tortillas seemed to have been barely microwaved at best, and the filling was approximately 3 pieces of lukewarm, squishy rubber-esque pork, which was described on the menu as crispy pork belly. The description also said there would be roasted pumpkin seeds which were not there. (I personally was pretty excited for something so unique and deliciously written)
To the restaurant's credit, we did receive our food reasonably quickly after ordering, but that wasn't enough to cull my disappointment in our experience. Tables after us were getting food before us, and our food was received already cold. We shared our food across the table and were all met with equally bland dishes, this is definitely a "Mexican" restaurant for people who think a tomato can be spicy. Another at our table ordered the taquito entree, which ended up being half of a plate of shredded iceberg lettuce and 3 pinky finger width unseasoned chicken taquitos.
Once it came time to pay the bill even, we had issues. We all paid separately for our meals within the group, and checks came with QR codes we could scan to pay our bills. I used this feature, entered in my card information, waited, and waited, and waited, and waited for the card to go through. I, before beginning this transaction, had just checked my banking app to make sure there would be no issues with the card I was using (there weren't any issues with the card.) Eventually the message on the bill pay website said the transaction failed to go through. I was in the middle of a conversation so I didn't attend to the issue right away, but as I started to double check information, the webpage reloaded itself and said the payment went through.
Overall, I can't forgive slow service, misrepresented food, and poorly implemented/ misleading payment processes. I'm disappointed that this restaurant did not live up to the expectations built by all the numerous positive reviews, and I hope Acapulco Mexican Restaurant takes their time to read this review and reflect on their own business practices. I will not be...
Read moreMy whole family's favorite place. When I walk in, the smell of fresh corn chips fills the air. I'm greeted at my table by genuinely friendly staff who all seem to be happy and enjoying each other. Very family feeling. First bites are the house made chips I've been smelling and a salsa so fresh you know it's made daily. Chips and salsa anywhere else I'm not even interested in. But at Acapulcos, the chips and salsa sets the stage in your mind that you're at a place that really goes the extra mile on quality, flavor, and freshness, even in the little things. Some of my favorite things on the menu are the seafood chimichanga that's smothered in a white cheese sauce, the al pastor taco that has pork and grilled pineapple, or the mixed fajitas with steak, chicken, and shrimp. I've eaten there countless times and have never received a meal that was less than perfect.
In fact, we love Acapulcos so much, that we had them cater my brothers wedding a few months back. We had a high end wedding at a beautiful golf course, and a taco bar may seem odd to some people. But we received so many compliments on the food. Everyone was crazy about it. Acapulcos set everything up on site and it looked really impressive. They provided the heated pans for all the food, service ware, even plates and napkins. The food was flawless and very plentiful for the number of guests we ordered for. Not to mention very reasonably priced. So many of the guests came to ask us where the food was from, and immediately put Acapulcos in their phones and planned to go there. Everyone loved it.
At the end of the day, Acapulcos is providing exactly what everyone wants from any restaurant. High quality, delicious food served fast by genuinely friendly service. I highly recommend...
Read moreWe ate here for the first time. First of all the food was excellent, but that's the only good thing about this place! First we got the wrong order (they mixed up mine with the table next to us) then our "waitress" was no where to be found. Our table and the one next to us had to go up to the bar for 2 rounds of refills, not just one! When she finally showed up, I politely told her that we had to get our own drink refills and the food was mixed up. She flipped out, practically yelling at me, telling me she was short staffed and was in the kitchen making sure my food order was fixed. I asked her to speak to a manager, this is when she informed me that SHE was the manager!!! I was so appalled! I told her we were not entirely happy with our visit, but the food was good. She continued to chew me out and holler at me. I felt very attacked! I have NEVER been treated this way at a restaurant especially by a manager!!! After all the trouble she didn't even comp our drinks! I took the high road just to get her to calm down and shut up and told her it was okay and it was just a small misunderstanding between her and me. She still continued to defend herself saying she was "shocked that I had complained". My stance.... don't ask me how "everything is" if you don't want the dang answer! Won't go back to this branch, and I have already told a TON of people about this experience. One place being a reputable local bed and breakfast who will no doubt be spreading word on their...
