Best coffee and baked goods in Oak Park. They have the cinnamon roll. Like, they've unlocked it. Lots of places have a cinnamon roll. Blackout has "the" cinnamon roll. And the Peanut Butter Blackout Brownie, come on. Today, I had Coffee Cake Bread Pudding...warmed it up a bit, took a bite...fell out of my chair onto the floor. I had a rug down, but I really could have gotten hurt. Look at their specials board. It's to the right. I almost only ever get a special. My girlfriend is into their savory bits too. She's so hard to please. I really try. She's never unpleased with Blackout. I sometimes worry I'm going to be left for a strata. Their impeccable design was what really got me. When a place has above-average brand establishment, I want to know more. Now I won't go anywhere else. Their new cups just look and feel cool in the hand...or hot in the hand. I don't know your order. It doesn't hurt that it's in the Marion corridor. It fits. It's bijou, bordering on twee. I live in southeast Oak Park—a three-minute walk away from PQB. I am geographically, diametrically opposed from where Blackout is. I will drive right past ten other coffee places (many of pretty high quality) to go to Blackout. It feels like a secret. Go get coffee before your figure drawing class. This review is insane. I'm sorry. 10/10, would protect in prison.

This place has the most strict policies and absolutely no customer service skills. My typical coffee order is 2-3 shots of espresso on ice. I don’t add milk or flavoring to this. This typically costs me $3 at Starbucks but it’s further from me, so sometimes I’ll stop here. Every time I order this here, the workers refuse to put ice inside the cup and give it to me in a mini shot cup warm. Despite paying $5 for this, which is the cost of a latte, they state their “policy doesn’t allow them to put it in a normal cup with ice”. This is the weirdest thing I’ve ever heard, and the way the baristas get genuinely angry when I ask this is even more peculiar to me. I’ve never seen a cafe with such rigid policies in Oak Park, let anyone anywhere

Buddy approved Baked Goods and Coffee. Edit: Wanted to add to this review. I love this spot. The owner is very sweet and super knowledgeable in the baked goods realm. She employs great staff who are all very pleasant to chat with, Nick is my favorite Barista since he plays good tunes and always has good conversation to add to the mix. My personal favorite baked item currently is the Blueberry Muffin. If you see it on display, I highly recommend you try (kindly, ask them to warm it up for you if you’re planning on indulging right away) And for coffee I usually order a Flat White or Hazelnut Iced Coffee. Either makes for a enjoyable walk through Mills Park which is a few steps away.

It pains me to leave an unsavory review. From my experience I define Blackout Baking as a bakery that serves coffee. I don't always want bakery items, sometimes just a cup of coffee. I've been shamed more than once from the owner and staff, for my only cup of coffee purchase.

The owner and staff can't seem to get it together with their dine in policy or hours of operation. When they first opened, it was pet friendly (not anymore, which is disappointing). I stopped in with my pup for a coffee and bakery item, my dog was greeted. I was offered the option to dine in or takeout. I never dined in before and on this day, dining in sounded great. I sat down, situated my pup and began enjoying my coffee and scone. The same employee who served me shortly came over and mentioned pets are not allowed for dine in. I was shocked and embarrassed, why did you offer me the option, I asked. Well we like your pup, he's well behaved. Seriously, you can't have it both ways.

On a recent trip I was not aware of the time and upon entering I was told they weren't open for another 10 minutes. They forget to lock the door when entering back in from setting up the outdoor cafe tables. I offered to wait outside, they said no, it's ok. The owner was at the register. I ordered just a cup of coffee all the while she complained with a smile on her face that it happens all the time. If you're going to take my money why mention you're not technically open and then shame me into buying a bakery item? I'll take my business elsewhere. I don't care for the way she spoke to me from this visit and others, she tries to come off as friendly, but her energy is...

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Blackout Baking Co., and I must say, their cookies are nothing short of spectacular! Each cookie is a delightful masterpiece of flavor and texture. I tried a variety of their offerings, and each one was more delicious than the last.

The cookies had the perfect balance of a crispy edge and a soft, gooey center that made them simply irresistible. The rich chocolate chip cookies were packed with premium chocolate chips, delivering that perfect melt-in-your-mouth experience. Their creativity and dedication to quality ingredients truly shine through with every bite.

Not only were the cookies incredible, but the service was also top-notch. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to recommend their favorites, which truly added to the...
