The Beer Shop is a craft beer enthusiast's dream, offering a wide range of brews both on tap and in the fridge. But there's a catch.
While the selection is top-notch, there's a unique quirk to this place: it's family and pet-friendly. That means you'll often find kids running around, which might not be everyone's cup of tea – including mine. Some might see it as a perk, but personally, I prefer a more adult-oriented atmosphere when enjoying adult beverages.
That said, The Beer Shop does deliver when it comes to variety, though prices can be a tad higher than what you'd find at bigger liquor stores. The staff are friendly enough, though they're not always going above and beyond.
On the bright side, The Beer Shop is conveniently located with a paid parking lot, making it easy to swing by for a cold one. Just be prepared for the lively atmosphere – kids and all.
In the end, The Beer Shop offers a mixed experience. While beer aficionados will appreciate the selection, the family-friendly vibe might not be for everyone. With that in mind, it gets a solid 3 out of 5...
Read moreI’m a big fan of the beer shop, it’s definitely an asset to the community and a great meeting place. As a non-drinker, I’ve always loved that they stock not only six-packs but single cans of NA brews so that I can still grab something when I go to hang out with my friends. However, the last several times I’ve gone the fridge that holds the NA beers has been so cold that all of the cans are frozen and not drinkable. It’s sort of a bummer because it has meant that we’ve left and gone to other bars/restaurants in the area even when we’ve wanted to hang out here. The staff has always been really great about the situation though and tries to find a solution, even in a rush.
Edit: I’ve now been in at least two times since leaving this review and it has still been an issue. I don’t know if the fridge itself is broken but I’m not sure I will return until I’m certain that...
Read moreHidden gem! Beer shop is located a few blocks off of busy lake street. They are conveniently located right next to a green line stop and a big parking lot, which is extra nice for anyone not within walking distance. They are not a very big location and Thursday-Saturday the bar is normally full- and for good reason! They offer a large rotating selection of draft craft beers and wine. They also sell a variety of beers for carry out. Along with the beer the atmosphere here is really great. They have a stash of board games, they allow dogs inside, and the bartenders are always very friendly. They also will let you bring in food from any of the near by restaurants! The crowd here varies, but is normally a younger group. Overall, we love Beer Shop! It's got good beer and great charm- what more could...
