The restaurant itself is small in atmosphere. Seems a little claustrophobic.
As far as the food goes, it was a little disappointing. To me it lacked authenticity. I’ve had better Peruvian cuisine out of food trucks, and that’s sad to say seeing this is a full operational establishment branded “Taste of Peru”. I judge Peruvian restaurants consistently based off two staples, Arroz Chaufa & Ceviche. Those are two dishes every Peruvian place should have, and can’t get wrong.
Well, they got it wrong. The Arroz Chaufa tasted more like Chinese fried rice than it did Peruvian style fried rice. I wasn’t happy about that because if I wanted Chinese food, I could’ve went to a bagillion other places and paid a fraction of the price. So swing and a miss there.
Then my Ceviche….. what a lost cause. This is where I called it quits. You mess up my ceviche, I won’t return. All I tasted was strong lemon. Maybe they ran out of limes? Maybe they only had one lime left? I’m not sure, but there was zero balance of citrus in the dish, very lemon heavy, taking away from the flavors balancing and coming together in the dish. Super dissatisfied as this is the dish I always look forward to in a Peruvian restaurant. I wouldn’t order this again.
Then cherry on the top (quite literally… dessert lol), a Tres Leches was ordered. I’ve had many Tres leches cakes in many places. Seems to me most places follow suit in their ingredients. It tasted fake. What I mean by that…. Not fresh, quality, handmade, secret recipe kind of taste. It taste like a store bought, synthetic ingredients, conveyor belt kind of cake.
And so that was my first impression of this place. I don’t think it’s worth the money. There’s too many other places in Orlando you can spend your hard earned dollars with and be a lot more satisfied.
I guess on the bright side, they didn’t mess up...
Read moreI was in town from Tampa and I came several 7+ years ago to this restaurant which I remember being good . However the experience I had for lunch service today was terrible. I am 100% Peruvian and know/ make these dishes. The food and service were terrible. The causa de pollo seemed to be from several days ago. It’s a tiny tiny serving which I took 2 bites from. My girlfriend had papa la huancaina and didnt taste authentic. More like it has been there from several days in the fridge and we are going to serve it you. Manager said I had to pay 50% since I ate half. Mind you I ate two bites and my girlfriend ate one potato slice out of the 5 tiny sliced pieces of potato. It’s definitely a kiddie size appetizer. The teenage boy waiter didn’t ask us how the food was. We were gonna order more food. Good thing we didn’t. He handed us the check and walked back. I’m like hold on we didn’t like the food. He says I’ll go get the manager. Manager comes we tell her, tells me about the charge and says no one has complained about that dish. She told the chef and she herself tasted it. I asked her myself if she was Peruvian. I am very disappointed, will not be going back there again. I should have walked out and just paid for my soda in cash. I’m not a person that gets into it with another and said no I’m not paying for this food. I paid my 50% charge cause apparently we ate half of the food. After we left I called my credit card company to take off the charge which is taken care of. Better food in Tampa for sure. My hotel was south closer to home and I traveled out of my way north to come to this restaurant, not worth it. Worst of all, I came with my partner who I have been telling to try Peruvian cuisine and this was a...
Read moreThe food was good but the lady can rip you off on the billing. I ordered 3 plates and drinks. the lady came back and told me that the price in the menu is wrong. I was ordering a churrasco meal and it says $19 but she came back and says that”s the old price and brought another menu card with a white tape written on it $22.90 and saying that the churrasco is expensive and the price was upgraded. This is legally suitable because she needed to charge me what was in the menu card originally. It was a bad business practice and easily reportable to the Business Customers Bureau and Federal Trade Commission. The Florida Law is clear about when to impose a tip fee on the bill only in big parties, event or special meetings and not to a normal customer or let customer knows in advance how much will charge in advance for service fees.. It was late and she knew I will not go anywhere. The bill was imposing me over 17% grant tip and taxes. It is unbelievable that I ended up paying 80.90 when my original orders should be $55. Do not go there. The lady takes advantage of you if she feels she can rip you off. I hope her game does not last for so long.THIS PLACE needs to be reported! I hope she receives Karma for...
