I should have known when that little voice said.. no don't let them pick you up.... drive to the event. I ended up being picked up by a friend who drank too much and purchased this hotel at the last minute ,after our venue ,to be safe and not drive drunk. Which I 100% support.Since I was on his ticket, and he paid for everything.... I didn't feel it was my place to voice my opinion of where we stayed unless it was really bad. The hotel key didn't work, a bad omen to me and foreshadowed what to expect...so, we had to go back to the desk and get another key. This gave me plenty of time to look at the rundown exterior of this building ,I felt like I was in a video game waiting for something to jump out of the corner....poorly lit dim parking lot.On my scale of 1 to 10 for cleanliness this barely made a three. Stains on the door The carpet felt like it was trying to eat me, dust bunnies attacking my shoes in every corner, the air conditioning unit is loudly churning along ..just barely, and half taken apart. 1986 was calling and they wanted the entire room back including the mattress.... which was so worn out and lumpy My back started aching 2 hours after I went to sleep, and while I was dreaming, I thought I was sleeping in a tent on the ground. The bathroom... let me put it to you this way, I used it for one thing and one thing only... I didn't touch anything else in there. My shoes came off to go into bed, otherwise they were on all the time in the room.Besides the bad mattress, the dirty shape of the room haunted me and I was afraid of the same with the bed sheets ,but they did look clean.. I told myself. I did not trust the blanket or the comforter, so I slept with just a sheet. The TV from 1990 ,had seen better days and was dim, fuzzy, and had those funny colors like my grandparents old TV did. This is an old old building in need of much TLC. The rooms need to be all overhauled. As I was checking out in the morning, I did notice a huge dumpster at the far end of the building and construction noise ,so they are renovating and things will be hopefully improving. I went to breakfast at 7:00 a.m. on the dot because I needed hangover attendance with fresh coffee. The coffee was horrible of course ..burnt.... there's one of those pancake machines where you push the button and it does all the work for you. With a line of eight people waiting to use it .yea rite .. a half hour wait for pancakes I don't think so.they need another two machines.two yogurt choices, orange juice, muffin choices, some cereal two choices,no toast, no bagels ,no butter. My beneficiary told me that the hotel rate was excellent, so I was surprised breakfast was included, and for that price I was not surprised by the shape of the room... It's in the middle of sort of an industrial zone so walkability I don't think there is anything close ,but I could be wrong. I didn't go out at night. This is not a place for kids.Would I stay here...
Read moreStayed at Days Inn Orlando Airport as a last minute reservation because I had to attend military drill nearby. Did the reservation over the phone and reviews looked decent but for over $200 I was skeptical I got there about 9 PM, front desk lady seemed frustrated and said maybe 10 words to me including "I need your license after" after giving her my military ID. Got to the room, on the second floor and it appeared pretty nice. I learned that night however, sound travels through the halls every audibly. I also learned the toilet barely flushed, and the shower barely drained, causing me to have water up over my ankles in about 3 minutes. I slept poorly due to doors slamming all night and road noise from McCoy Rd. Woke up, showered again with water reaching over my ankles and went to get breakfast. Decent breakfast, with instant coffee machine for coffee. Before I left for work, I told the front desk guy, who took my complaint about the toilet and shower drain seriously, he wrote it down and said he'd get on it. Got back to the room around 6 PM Saturday night to find the toilet still barely flushed and the shower barely drained, if at all. Went to bed, another long night of dogs barking and doors slamming. Showered in the morning and oops, toilet completely clogged. I packed my stuff and informed staff the toilet was clogged and shower still didn't drain. Again, the desk guy wrote it down and confirmed the issues I was complaining about. No here comes the reason they got 1 star. I turned in my room keys, left for work, and about an hour and a half later I realized I had left a corkscrew behind that was my wifes grandfather's. I immediately called the hotel, explained I had just checked out of room 253 and forgot something. I was told that I could get a key to reenter the room if I had ID. I said I'll be right there. I went directly there, got a key to the room and found the cleaning lady was already cleaning the room. I asked her about the corkscrew and in broken English she explained she had not seen it. It appeared I was the first room she was working on because the only garbage in her trash cart came from my room. There was no corkscrew. So from the time I voiced a complaint and left, to the time I got back there, and before the cleaning lady entered the room, my guess is, a maintenance person. Plumber whatever entered my room and took it. I've turned my bag inside out, it is not there. Someone did enter my room and took the corkscrew prior to the cleaning lady entering and that is unacceptable. Moral of the story, there is a thief...
Read more1st room #126 - knowingly check me into a room with maintenance issues. Had no shower curtain or ac for 4 days. Mind you its fl winter, day time is 80° night time is 30°.
2nd room #171- moved to a new room, hot water was not working. Stayed in a room for 3 days unable to shower unless I used extremely cold water.
3rd room #172 - moved to a new room.. the tv was not working for 3 days. Man at the front desk came to fix it after several calls, the issue, they only have one remote for the tv that they share with the front desk thus I could not turn of the tv to my room my entire stay. The tv turned of on its own. YOLANDA from the front desk felt she knew better and would not listen on how to fix the tv.. she was unable to and walked of without resolution.
Issue again. The electricity kept going off in my room, attempted to get my room changed. YOLANDA and supposedly MARNA the manager stated they are sold out and the only room available is a suite which is an upcharge. Confused and irritated at this point i ask so what am I supposed to do, pay to fix your hotels problems (natural customer service would have been to just move my room as I was checking out in 3 days).
Unfortunately with all this YOLANDA the front desk called the cops stating im using my high risk pregnancy as an excuse for sympathy, refused to give me a refund, lied that she was attacked while simultaneously calling me stupid. Just a whole mess.
Her solution stay in the room with no electricity until the morning when a manager is in.
Followup the next day... manager is not coming until Monday. I was expected to stay in a room with no electronics or ac for 4 day per the hotel despite paying, being down graded or pay more for a suite which may have maintenence issues as well.
They also inserted the lie that I destroyed the room despite me having pictures and them not willing to furnish theirs as is customary to...
